The technology is almost here. Photovoltaic Cell | Solar PV | Oxford PV They are looking for investors right now. Although before going big there are certain technological bugs that must be eliminated. However once this hits I don’t think anyone will want to maintain dirty glass. We are already cleaning solar panels.
What I personally find interesting about this is the potential for transforming already existing glass. Also the question lingers as to whether there are any technologies out there already that could be used to improve in some way the functionality of existing windows.
Nonetheless, the larger picture in my mind is that new technologies for transforming already existing window glass surfaces is currently being explored. From so called self cleaning glass to solar voltaic glass. Window Cleaners could buy into the technology as applicators. Also we will need to maintain/clean it after it is applied.
