Some trailer mods we made

Here are a few pictures of some changes we made in our trailer recently. Hoping to give a little more in depth tour next week.

We were able to buy a hot water pressure washer and a 250 gallon tank for a screamin’ deal recently. The unit was mounted on a utility trailer but we decided we wanted it all in our normal work trailer.

A local welder fabricated some frames so that we could mount the hose reels right to the pressure washer skid.

The water tank feeds both the pressure washer and our ez pure filter. The filter is fed by a 12 volt pump that is powered by the pressure washer’s deep cycle marine battery. Now using the wfp is as simple as flipping a switch on the front of the pressure washer, grabbing the pole and getting to work. No more lugging that filter around to what ever water source you can find and then hooking up all your hoses and your pole.

Already saved us hours of time on our commercial route due to basically no set up and break down time.

Sweet set up dude. What size is your trailor?

That hydro tek looks brand new - how sweet of a deal was it?

question about heat that is going to come off the burner will that mess with your hoses any.

That scares me too. Tremendous amount of heat.

Welcome to the Hydro Tek family…new or used, it doesn’t matter. Nice Skid!

Welcome to WCR, Denise!

Thanks for the comments and feedback. Hoping to have more pictures and a video real soon. No time for it right now.

We were a little concerned about heat too. But decided to go for it in an effort to most effectively use space. We have 18 inches of clearance and so far heat hasn’t been a problem but we haven’t run the heater for any extended period of time.

If heat does appear to be an issue there are a few steps we can take to mitigate it. Just turning on the wfp pump and having water running through the hose would greatly control temperature of the hose. We could also hook up a fan powered by the pw battery to blow heat out of the back of the trailer. From what we’ve seen so far, I think these two steps would sufficiently dissipate the heat should it bee necessary.

Ordered my downstreamer from Bob yesterday. Can’t wait to hook it up and feed it from a pre-mixed house wash barrel at the front of the trailer. Anyone have any experience on the maximum effective length for the hose running from my housewash mix to the downstreamer?

I sure appreciate all of your comments and concerns.

Thanks, Denise. This setup had been a major time saver for us so far and changed how we do business.

Dejay, thanks for posting that picture. Scary to be sure. After reading through that thread, it appears that fire was started due to chemicals, not heat. In fact, it mentions the foreman opening the rear doors after the fire was going in order to remove the gas cans.

Not to downplay your concern. I think it’s valid. This is just a good lesson to all of us about keeping reactive chemicals close to each other.

That vent is also extremely expensive. Hydrotek can set you up with a special cowling that will attach to the burner that will allow you to use standard double wall stove piping to pipe the exhaust out of the roof. You can buy a cap to install on the roof to keep the rain out. You can do all that for probably around 100 dollars.

As far as fires… I always keep a fire extinguisher in the trailer. In fact, I keep two. One installed on the inside of the side door and back door. Since it’s on the inside, it’s on the outside when the door is open, easy to get to. I use nitrogen foam extinguishers.

With a minimum of 20 gallons of gas and 20 gallons of diesel as well as other flammables, it’s insane not to have some kind of fire prevention within reach.

Denise,

Send me some info on that cowling.
