Hi everyone,
I was wondering what brand of squeegee rubber you suggest and which one lasts the longest? How often do you change them out?
Thanks everyone,
Mike

I believe there’s some counterfeit rubber knocking about that’s quite good ;)*
I use all of them, mostly hard for the heat here. Wagtail & Pulex suits me. Been using Ettore & Unger soft over the winter. *
This is one of those personal preference questions…
You’ll find lotsa threads on the subject using the Search feature.
I currently use Unger, Ettore, and Wagtail rubber.
Do a search, think they did a chat on this topic during the winter. Was some good info. and up to date info
IF your an Ecover user . try using some harder rubber… i was given top loch rubber which is medium. ( between soft and hard ) and it lasted a lot longer than the Unger soft and functioned pretty much the same… strange thing is i guess the hard works just as well
Yes I am an ecover guy I just started using it. Thank you I will keep that in mind about the medium rubber!
My favorite is anything counterfeit :0
But seriously Im an Ettore guy, but we give out Unger to the staff as its a bit cheaper.
What is “top loch rubber” and where do you get it??
I’m currently using a few types: Ettore soft typically, but have some hard as well. The soft tends to leave squeegee smears for me in the direct sun which has been a problem for me (even using Ecover). The hard seems to work a little better in the sun but usually gives me more detailing on the window sides. No sun and I would probably use the soft almost all the time. I also have been using Ettore Soren for my Sorbo channels (wide) but it is pretty soft and wears a lot faster than the Sorbo rubber IMO.
Seems like a week doesn’t go by that someone asks about squeegee rubber…

Think it’s made by Vermop (Dutch). I’ve always avoided their tools in the past because the channels only fit their rubber. The new squeegee now takes any channels & I think their rubber can now be used in the different brands. I have a feeling that ionic used to sell these?
I’ve tried several methods. Sometimes I use a gallon jug with pure water and a squirt of Ecover. Then I apply to to strip washer. I’ve also used a bucket on larger jobs with the same results. It doesn’t happen all the time and I don’t think temperatures matter all that much because it’s happened at 40F or even 75F (not sure C). It’s usually when the sun is very low in the sky and beaming through windows that this happens. I can’t even see the smear until I go inside. After the sun goes up far enough it’s not even visible to the eye. But when the sun is shining through it looks ugly! I’ve noticed that the hard rubber seems to resist this smearing better than the soft rubber but continue to struggle some with this even though I’ve tried all kinds of suggestions from fellow WCR people. It’s definitely better with Ecover versus Dawn, but I still get it.
simple question´s … how often do you change your water ? and how often do you wash out your washer ?..sometimes the seals can bleed when they are warm . but i have only had this problem on white sealing and when the sun has been on them ?? maybe the smears are from your scrim or detailing cloth ?? might be your squeegeeing technique, but somehow i doubt it …if you have been in the game under 10 years it could be you still need to learn a little more…this is where Ecover comes into its own when the Sun is just like you said it … i just suggest washing your washer out more often and change your water regular dont wait till its brown on those awkward windows…
When I received my wagtail the first day I used it it left one line right in the middle of each stride down the window. Has anyone else had this problem? I switched the rubber and now it works fine but was a little disappointed by that.
I use toplock ( vermop) it’s much better than Unger.
