I’ve been in buisiness for a little over 2 years, using Sprayway as my cleaner of choice for cleaning glass on the inside of all jobs (res and com). I’ve done this I guess mainly because I’ve felt it was less “messy” this way, if you will…what with the dripping and all from the BOAB to thr actual squeegee. But it is my impression that most, if not all, of you still squeegee inside glass.
I’ve actually always despised Sprayway deep down because it does leave a faint greasy smear here and there at times. (and I hate the constant wiping - it’s flippin exhausting).
IMO a home owner can use sprayaway but rarely can use a squeegees properly. That’s why they hire us. Right? For a professional window cleaning experience? So lets give them what they are paying for.
No offense intended here, just how I feel about you’re question.
Sprayaway is a good tool to have around. I use it mainly for french cut ups with my squeegee. It’s not common pratice to use it over soap, water and a squeegee. Have you been cleaning windows long?
I use both methods inside. I use Sprayway on the windows that are not as dirty and squegge it off. It is faster for me and leaves the windows extremely clean. It does however wear out the rubber much faster. I squeegeed the entire interior of a home using Sprayway earlier this year (larger cutups) and shaved two hours off my previous cleaning time. It does seem to smear and leave marks if you are in hot sun. I also find that Sprayway is great as a wetting agent when you need to scrap off paint or silicone. It is great for detailing and does wonders on bird droppings on skylights and exterior windows. I go through at least 4 cases per year.
Interestingly… I always have used a 6" t-bar and have had good success. But spray away for the French cut ups may very well save time with a squeegee.
Mmmm…
I just may give that one a try. I will time a few sets with t-bar and then a few with spray away and see the results on my next frenchie job.
I carry it around all the time now in my cargo pants pocket with a small Unger micro. I like it anywhere inside that you have glass not too dirty but awkward to clean traditional.
Another use that I personally like is if on glass, mostly outside, I have any specks of crap left on the glass I spray it then buff with a woolit knuckler and it wipes clear.
Some homes consist entirely of cut ups. Try it before you knock it. I bugged one of our current WCRA 20 year window cleaners to try the Sprayway for years. He finally did after I gave him a can and he has now changed his ways.
It’s just like those who were reluctant and some still are to use pure water to clean windows. Once they finally try it they realize how much time they wasted doing it the old way.
P.S. Sprayway is made with Pure Water and perfumed alcohols (check the label)
