I’ve got stainless and brass channels. Which kind do you prefer? What do you like about either? Do you find any functional difference? Thanks folks!
I always understood that brass doesn’t scratch glass - hence the choice of metal. These days I usually plump for the lightest & most efficient channels for the job. I’m past banging channels on glass.
I’ve always used brass channels. Real easy to cut for any size french pane. I’ve been using some of the same channels for over 15 years.
Aluminum
are there any disavantages to aluminum?
Aluminum channels are very light and also easy to cut and file smoothe on the ends. I use Steccone aluminum channels for cut to fit channels for Frenchies. And my 6" squeegee always on my belt is a Steccone aluminum.
Brass is really nice when you want to make a custom sized channel. I use both, i alternate between my ettore brass and my unger ero-tech. The ergo-tech stainless has been getting a little more play these days since its a little lighter.
I tried the steccone aluminum channel and squeegee, i dug it but it was TOO light for me, if that makes sense. I need a little bit of weight to feel comfortable.
