Standing and setting ladders on A/C units and hot-tub covers

I’ve been stuck so many times trying to figure out how to set my ladders around air-conditioning units and hot-tubs. I’ve yet to fall into a hot-tub, or broken an a/c fan, but it always feels sketchy. I always stand and set on the edges, but it feels precarious. How do y’all address these scenarios?

… Taller ladder, longer pole, wfp,…anything but THAT…

I’m sure the windows cost over $100 bucks.

Pole.

Dont mess with standing on A/C units and hot-tub covers…unnecessary risk involved.

As other’s have said pole it or multi-purpose ladder to work around the objects.

If you don’t have a water fed pole, then your options are to go inside and tilt the window in (if it does) or use a pole, knowing that the quality won’t be 100%. But it’s not worth the danger to your body or your budget to set a ladder on anything besides the ground.

I’ve never set a ladder on either, but have stepped on the corner of A/c units and tub covers with most of my weight on the step. If it’s an upper, I pole it, and if they’re cut-ups, they usually roll out. My partner stands on the paint can thing on his step. I think that’s sketchy.

Don’t do it man!! Not worth the risk!! Use a pole and if a pole won’t get it, tell the homeowner that you’re sorry, but that window is not safe to get to. Is one window worth breaking your neck?

Freakin’ A/C and hot-tubs cramping my style…

Sectional ladder takes care of 99% of odd ladder placement. Water fed pole takes care of 100% of odd ladder placement. Ditch the step ladders. I use my step ladder for a 72" film handler ONLY!

I find that most of the challenge posed by A/C units are for first floor windows that you maybe only need a 4 foot step ladder for anyway. Still not really practical for sectionals or WFP. Hot tubs, on the other hand, are more likely to block upper floor windows, and you’re 100% right that a WFP takes care of that problem every time.
