Still learning my lesson after the second surgery

Well the surgery is done, they did one big one instead of two small ones. The surgery was done a couple weeks back. I feel like I am emerging from a bit of a dark time snapping back to reality. After two months of being a blob on the couch the mental struggle was probably worst than the physical.

At the end of the day this isnt anything. Completely and 100% avoidable. I also want to say thanks to everyone on the forum for the support. WCR has more of a family feel than a forum. If you see what is happening on other forums you might appreciate WCR a little more. I really need to get my WCRA membership…time to go make some dough!

Bubba Joe,

You got me beat I only have 13 screws and one plate in my knee, you have 19 and 2 plates…But I don’t see a bone transplant…I have one about an inch square on my tibia plateau installed from a cadaver !

Things emotionally are tough, I know I’ve been there, still keep the door open and continue to look ahead. You’ll over come this dead spot and rise back up to and beyond your former status…

Keep thinking and planning, implementing…Your alive and with a level head, also utilize this time to grow spiritually, emotionally, and individually as a person. You’ll see a beacon on the horizon with a bright light beckoning you to rise up and be all that you can be !

Take care Bubba

Thanks man, just little conversations like this are what made the difference during the most difficult times. The biggest relief has been getting off the pain killers. I’m not completely off of them because I need them to sleep, I can manage the pain during the day time without them. That was a crucial step into getting my mind right.

Bone transplant from cadaver sounds kind of gnarly btw

Yeah I know…There’s a steep grade, but when you get through it all you’ll be a wiser and more resilient person…

The pain killers are there as you need them, a necessary evil… Down grade if possible after a while…But with just a recent surgery use them as needed.

You’ll reach the ridge…You know you went through boot camp and I’m sure that was tough, well keep things in the same perspective and you’ll find that inner strength that will get you up the steep switchbacks while carrying this heavy load to the high point of the path your on…

Dave

Yeah but I can’t smell the difference. That corner of the plateau was totally smashed into nothing, so they carved out a notch an installed the bone…The bone was sterilized, and without it the Doctor said I’d have a problem walking, so it is what it is ! I like to know who it is I carry around with me though !

Dave

Can you explain how the accident happened so we can try to avoid the same thing? Was it a slip, trip, or what? I worry every time I’m on a roof or ladder. Glad to see you are on the mend though.
