Just bought the speed cleaning kit from wcr. Can I store pure water from my outdoor system in a plastic container and fill the speed cleaning applicator bottle and how long will it last thinking about winter when I Store my system indoors.
I’d like to piggyback this post, as I was just thinking about the subject.
The city “re-did” my street about a year ago, and pretty much cut down every tree in sight.
So I have gutters that I could probably “literally” eat off of.
I’ve been thinking about claiming rain water, as I built a deck and need to redirect a downspout.
(kind of thinking of sending it to a container)
Long story, short… it gets cold here, so if I go that route, I could see myself storing it for a while…
In theory you should be able to store the pure water forever. But I’d be worried about bacteria. Maybe throw some alcohol in there to kill the bacteria? I do that just because I’m paranod.
Being the cheapskate that I am, before I bought my portable WFP setup, I cobbled together a system using whole house components and stored the water in a tank
Rain water is not pure.
You’ll have dust, pollen, all sorts of gunk and algae from the tank if it’s not light proof.
Of course, if you then pass it in your pure water system, it will be easier on the filters than tap water.

Have you tested rain water? We’re not talk about rain water after it falls in a puddle.
UK guys are using straight rain water at times. It’s how you handle it from the roof (well cleaned) to the tanks.
