I’m new to the industry. I recently bought new sorbo completes, 6 inch and 18 inch. I’m Practicing constantly on my home windows but I notice my squeegees will squeak especially my 18 inch. What could I be doing wrong. I worked for another company before and It seemed I didn’t have this issue before. Any help would be appreciated.
Sorbo squeaks…
Really though your not using enough soap or your dragging more across dry glass or it’s just a tendency to your particular plate of glass !
If you worked for another company why would you need to practice this isn’t a sport, but rather spend your time doing work that earns you money…
Don’t get me wrong, after 32 years I’m still learning new things, but squeegeeing should come pretty easy.

P.S…By the way welcome to the neighborhood !
Squeegees will streak not squeak, sorry
The obvious answer would be to change your rubber, but I’m sure you’ve done that.
Sorboo are too fat/wide in that small of a channel… they are better with at LEAST 22" (minimum) or longer.
Do yourself a favor and grab some Ettore brass channels for those smaller sizes.

True but the last time I worked for a window company was 3 years ago. I figured I would do windows When I’m not doing Christmas lights. I will try what you have suggested, thanks.
Oooooh , Squeegee’s do squeak but if your asking about streaks then it could be worn out rubber !
What kind of streak are you leaving ?
Off the ends when your pulling, then point the squeegee in the dry spot in the direction your pulling !
If the streaks are in the center of the channel then you can be dragging debris or your rubber is worn out or you have some knicks in your rubber.
Also it’s because your using Sorbo-bo-bo ! LOL

Thanks, yes i “flipped” the rubber around but maybe I just need to change it all together. I’ve debated picking up some brass channels, thanks for the advice
When you worked for the other company, what kind of squeegees did you use, I find that when using the sorbo type squeegees and handles I need to adjust my hand angle a bit to get the same feel as when using ettoree or unger brass type squeegees and handles
What JFrom De-Twa has said…Go with Ettore !

Sorbo isn’t good huh? Dang, I paid a pretty penny for the complete too. I giras more in cost isnt always the best huh… Yeah its in the center of the rubber. I will examine for nicks in the rubber. Thanks
I like and use the Ettore stainless steel channel with an ergo-tech handle, they work well and bend not as easy as the brass !
Dange-Miester
We used unger and ettore, but i didnt like 0 angle, having my hand so close to the window. So I decided to try sorbo because of the angle. It was either sorbo or the Unger Ninja
Not likely with sorblow channels, but the channel may be bent…
I don’t like Sorbo squeegees but that’s just personal I think they’re klunky…But they work and they work for lots of people so you haven’t wasted your money…Get yourself just an 18" Ettore just to try it out…You may just like it !

There’s nothing wrong w/ a wide bodied channel. I use Unger Ninja’s in sizes from 16" down to 6" w/ no problems. Make sure you’ve trimmed your rubber to under 1/4" of each end, don’t use to much soap (less is always better), and practice your technique.
I use wide body’s a TON… just not in that small of length.
Think of it as…
Using a long stick to write your name in the sand -vs- Using a pencil on paper
(both work for their situation, but not reversed)
What Dange said, but we may just be showing our age,
If your hand is close to the glass with the 0degree then you have it to flat…With a 0degree your hand should be further away then when using a standard degree squeegee handle !

Yeah…Our bodies goes Snap Crackle Pop, Eh…
Hey there Pat, how ya doing ?

Surprisingly busy for January, good complaint to have though, Yourself?
I think that’s maybe what I’m getting at.
Not sure of the physics, but things seem to balance out when you’re working a mid 20’s to 30 inch… oooh I love it!!
Brass channels (not handles) have that nice ‘feather touch.’
