Stucco on vinyl frames

Thanks for all the replies about my tape thread last week it wasn’t to hard job went well but I received this email today:

Hi Brian,
Daan & the owner walked the house, and found some of the window frames still have stucco residue on them. Can we have you guys come back for touch up. In the future, we probably should include that part of the contract. Please let me know.
Thanks.

I replied:Ok will do. Was it a lot? Sometimes you can gouge the frames pretty bad getting it off, almost every home we do(homes lived in for a while, not new construction that we cleaned) has some stucco still on the frames. I’ll get over there this week and touch up.

Thanks,
Brian

So any thought’s easiest way to get stucco off the frames with out completely jacking them up? Out here in so-cal every home is stucco and every house I go to has stucco on the frames. So imo it kind of goes with the territory, mask it off better, but want to make them happy the builder does about 12-15 homes a year 4k square foot single story homes with about 40-45 windows million dollar price tag. It wasn’t to hard a cc which I usually never do but good money. All that said any ideas easy way to remove stucco?

Thanks

I’ve carefully used a flexible putty knive to knock off lage chunks, then wiped down with a cloth or sponge with Goof Off applied. I then wipe down with clean water on a sponge and dry as required during the following cleaning of the glass.

I strongly recommend Titan’s Cement Off. I’ve used it to remove mortar from green anodized aluminum frames without scratching them. I would think it would work real well on the vinyl too. Just to a test spot to make sure there’s no discoloration.

I once used paint thinner to remove stucco residue from screens with no damage to them

solvents and vinyl, had some interesting “melting” experiences in the past
