Hey guys,
I have a modular Gardiner pole system (56’). My guys have managed to some how jam 3 of the pieces together. Any suggestions on how to get them apart?
Thanks,

This should be the place.
Tony. I looked and looked and looked for that. I rememberd reading that and just could not remember where it was or what it was under. That why your a slayer and I’m a silver squeegee. OH YEA IM A SILVER SQUEEGEE!!!
I’m greatfull to recieve this award!!!.. I would like to thank all my friend’s and family for…oh sorry :o
I prefer the classic Sally Fields speech - “you like me, you really like me”
Man I should of said that!!
Good one.
Has it been like that for 4 hours or longer?
No seriously, if you can’t find the information you need from the link, give Chris or Shawn a call - I know they have the answers. I think it involves a heat gun, but I am not sure.
Someone else mentioned that problem. They used penetrating oil and heat. This seems to be a problem that needs to be dealt with.
Following the manufacturer’s instructions and proper planning and maintenance “deal” with the “problem.”
That may be. I don’t have the pole and I don’t know. We have had 2 people complain about this in the last few days
What if the person has lost the instructions or has bought the pole second hand? Finding that the pole is stuck at the end of the day after working hard at it will not make for a happy ending.
I would say that if this is something that happens often, It matters. I think the company should deal with it openly to assure the customers that it will not be a problem, or if it is, how to separate the poles easily.
Part of those instructions is using PFTE spray regularly on each section. I’d imagine a lot of the “stuck” issues come about from this step not being followed as regular as it should be.
I’m sure Rob won’t mind me posting a copy of the email I sent him this morning in response to his personal email to me:
Hi Rob,
The manual gives advice on how to part sections that are stuck together, I have quoted this below:
When it comes to disassembling them the natural inclination is to pull the
sections apart (which is fine if you have only used them lightly or for a short
time) and to twist the lower section anti-clockwise. The best way though to
separate them is to twist the lower section clockwise and it will twist the joint
apart. To assist this it can help to stand to one side of the pole, facing the
joint and twist the lower section away (clockwise) from you. If they are very
stiff, wearing a pair of rubber gloves will give you much better grip and
usually makes all the difference.
If a section appears completely ‘fused’ together then get a helper wearing
rubber gloves to hold the upper section, you then twist the lower section
which will shift almost anything!

The important things to remember when attempting this is to twist the lower section ‘clockwise’ which looks wrong. Twisting it this way will ‘unwind’ the section. Wearing rubber gloves increases grip dramatically Get one person to hold the smaller section about 10" up from the joint, then the other person can hold the lower section just below the joint and twist, but do not pull at all.
If the above just will not shift them then spray with WD40 or similar penetrating spray leave for a while and try again.
If the above does not work for some reason then please get back me.

I put a pair of rubber gloves into my WFP toolkit as soon as I read the SL manual.
no joke, heat gun+lube will get it loose…i know
MAN! I cant wait to get this pole. Had to get another pressure washer that set me back a bit, but this pole is awesome man. I seen the video on Shawns site, and the guy lifted the pole at 45 feet, from the butt of the pole off the ground! No WAY you can do that with my Tucker. I gotta have that pole.
It’s amazing, Tory. Very light and very rigid.
Yeah, I saw that. Dude, the guy picked it up and set it on his leg and held it with one hand! There was hardly any bend at all! I have some high 3 story commercials that are in-set by 15 inches, and the ridiculous 3 foot long goose neck on the tucker is a screaming joke! I HATE MY TUCKER!!!:mad:Shawn is comming out to LA in November and hoping he will demonstrate this pole. I am gonna do my best to get there.
We had the problem when I bought one of the frist poles over two years ago.
If they put them in backwards it will be very hard to getthem apart.
If you put some wd- forty and one twist one way and someone twist the other way you can get them apart.
We have used vasiline and duck tape right befor the connect line and it will prevent it from happing. You also can used duck tape on to inside to reforce the bottoms.
Use a hot air gun to heat the sections to red hot, then let them cool. Be patient you may have to do it 4 or 5 times but gradually the expansion / contraction will seperate them.
To stop this in the future over here I have reccomended electrical tape stop buffers that is the soulution to the problem. see this old thread.
Yep, all my poles are electrical taped up.
