Stumped by hard water

My hardest battle has been hard water stains. Right now I’ve been trying vinegar/baking soda with 0000 steel wool and also barkeeper’s friend (liquid) with steel wool. Did two shower doors today, one worked great with barkeeper’s, but wasn’t quite clearing up on the other, even Scrubbing hard. Any suggestions? Also I’m nervous about scratching glass, can any white scrub pads scratch? Or steel wool with chemicals? Any help is appreciated! My goal is to confidently remove hard water stains for mostly residential exterior windows not shower doors, but obviously that’s an easy place to find hard water.

I usually wet the glass and scrape stained area first then use unger hard water stain remover.Check wcr store to see if they have it as im not sure myself.

When I was cleaning. We tried oven cleaner at first. Took forever and did not do a good job. Then we tried.

Sorbo. Needs to be made into a paste. Worked well, but took too long to apply and take off.

Then we went with 550.

Worked very well.

Then I won a bottle of one restore at a conference. This stuff is truly the best and the price reflects that you get what you pay for. Spray on, clean window. Stains are gone. We did not have to double our efforts by soaping the windows to remove anything. It works right out of the jar. I forget if we had to dilute. But no matter it works.

We use CLR on most of ours. If CLR isn’t strong enough then muratic acid. Probably not a good idea to use muratic indoors though.

@austin are you using steel wool with the CLR? Thanks for the feedback!

Whats the onerestore shelf life ??? I have a gallong sitting on shelf for like 2 years now… used it a few times sure works great .

Check the msds sheets on their website.

I usually don’t need it if I’m using CLR. I’m not gonna say their paths have never crossed but I don’t intentionally use both at the same time.
