Surgical towels leaving lint

I have recently noticed that my surgical towels are leaving lint on the windows when we detail drips or clean up window vinyl. Do you guys have this problem or am I doing something wrong? Your input is greatly appreciated

Are they new?

about 3 months old

Generally I only have problems when they’re newish. It takes a while to ‘break’ them in. If you have a lot of them, and you only wash them about once every week or two, I could see you still having some lint. Or, if you’re trying to wipe on a spot that’s dry, that will give you some lint. So if you’ve washed the rags at least 10 times, I’d say your good there and if you’re not wiping dry glass, I don’t know. Maybe someone else can help.

I have found on some windows, that by using a scrim - it leaves behind a lint or dust like residue where I wiped the glass. But I have never had this issue with the blue hucks.

how do you guys wash them. I throw my in the local laundromat front loaders and then take them home and into the dryer. I don’t use any detergent or anything cause *** said not to.

Perhaps a top loader is the answer.

Did you dry them alone?

Welcome back Larry.

I have had just the opposite experience.

I haven’t used scrim, but I have had that problem with the blue huck towels…just today actually.

yeah I don’t have anything, but the surgical towels when I wash and dry them. I dont even put in a dryer sheet

That’s really odd, that we have all had different experiences. I thought scrim was the “end all - be all” of towels, but for some reason around here, we have a problem once in awhile.

Right, you definitely don’t want to use much detergent and certainly no fabric softener or dryer sheets.
I’ve found that if the glass is hot from the sun you’ll get lint, but generally the hucks are just fine.

Hang-dry only. Static builds up in the dryer drum & charges cloths attracting debris & particles. If you can, hang dry in a warm room, hence the need for more cloths. I have around 50, but only do a once a month wash.

Definitely have seen this happening. Can be quite frustrating.

Well it makes me feel better that some of you have the same problem. Thanks for all you advise and it looks like I’m going to try the hang dry method. Makes sense

Try a scrim as well.
