Post an example.
He did.
They’re microscopic, though.
no
My BS radar is going off…and I don’t think it is Mr. Mauer that set it off.
So - in the Q&A where you claim to have been trained to find tempered glass defects that cause scratches - you would go a long way toward proving that by explaining to customers how you use the microscope, and posting pictures of fabricating debris scratches you’ve found.
I’ve read enough of Gary’s assertions/statements of fact to believe he has no intention of BSing anyone.
I’ve also noticed that he doesn’t shove anything into your face, but he doesn’t back down either.
For what it’s worth, I approve. I’ll be helping him get to Finland.
Someone may have backed themselves into a corner, it wouldn’t hurt to let them exit gracefully.
Thanks, Dale.
Not my field - though I don’t really see how this affects polishing
But I am aware that Wiss, Janney, Elstner & Co. - which is perhaps the largest building engineering firm in the USA - has people working on whether glass gets weakened by scratch removal. They’ve been consulted often on large scratch cases.
During a layover in Stockholm on the way back from GPD Finland, I hung out with one of their engineers who had done a paper expressing concern. They have someone on the agenda again this year. I plan to attend and see where WJE are with their research.
Only if they ask for proof I e-mail it.
Oh no I wasn’t supposed to keep this crazy posting going I’m gonna have to edit this one. Any way I’m gonna “exit gracefully” until a resolution to cleaning windows with FD properly has been established/presented, microscopes are cool, but the windows still need to be cleaned. We are Window Cleaners after all.
So, the other thing you could do with your Q&A page is offer to proof there - to back up your claims.
Maybe make an only claim out of it;
“Choose the only window cleaners in Utah who offer free on site microphotographic fabricating debris analysis reports.”
Just reading AWC Magazine re: Glass preferably being cleaned by IWCA member …
How does that make you feel?
Doesnt make me feel to good… even though Im a member…

If you think that sample IWCA flyer pictured on page 12 is bull, I agree.
I hope you realize - there is no connection between that IWCA stuff and my photographs of time-delayed tempered glass scratch growth on the cover of AWC.
And I’m no longer a member.
And why would windows cleaned by IWCA members be any cleaner than a window cleaned by a member of WCR? They wouldn’t! Make up a cert. for WCR members and tell IWCA to buzz off.
What does the microscope look like that you use to show FD and how do you use it in the field?
Actually, there’s nothing in their puff piece report about IWCA members getting windows cleaner than anyone else.
But wouldn’t you rather talk about time-delayed tempered glass scratch growth, and what this discovery means to you and your business?
I saw that. It ticked me off! As if IWCA members are the only window cleaners who know about fab debris! They have been trying to find ways to make there membership a necessity for window cleaners for a while now. When I took their safety coarse at one of the conventions a few years back they where talking about how they have been trying to get the industry regulated much like in the northeast you have unions. But there are no unions for window cleaning industry. The only people who benefit from unions are the people who want to create a cushy desk job for themselves. They like the idea of there position being a necessity for the industry because it means job security for them. They can’t compete in the arena of ideas to create demand for there product or service so they want the government to step in and force everyone to purchase there products and services. A move like that isn’t made to benefit anyone but themselves.
