I know of a wc who’s been around for over 25 years, and says he only uses dishwashing liquid (certain brands and types) for his solution. So far, because of his example, That is what I’ve been using. THE QUESTION:
Are there superior solutions that make a difference???

If you search this topic on this forum or any other window cleaners forum you will find plenty of info on detergent.
We call it a soap war.
You can search GG4, Dawn, or Glisan.
Hey guys and gals,
I would like to submit my most humble appologies for any agitation that this subject might engage. As a college student I might say that I passed my Psycology 101 class [c-], and thereby am able to see the ensuing tension. So allow me to say from the bottom of my my little bitty heart …
I LOVE YOU MAN [AND LADIES]
In an effort to make this a peaceful interchange remember our reality…we are window cleaners!!! A wise man once said, “Every time I close the door on reality, it comes in through the windows.”
Try several different solutions and use what works best for your area. Most companies will send you a sample of their product. I’ll bet Chris and Alex can set you up w/ samples of Glass Gleam and other window cleaning soaps.
I use a mix of GG4 and Dawn dishwashing liquid. I use the Dawn mostly so I can see it on the window, the GG4 gos on clear and you could sometimes miss a spot.
I only use Dawn Ultra because one it’s cheap, and two the commercial grade burns my hands since I don’t wear gloves when I clean. Although I have been thinking about trying some commercial grade again for the glide factor. But I worry about what they put in that stuff, I don’t want my hands falling off in the near future.
I bought this window cleaning product designed for window cleaners from a local company and they said, its great stuff and not bad for you, yet their was no list of ingredients on the back and it burned my hands so there you go, I got burned and ran back to mama Dawn!
