The unger pill

I have used dish soap for years in my water but was wondering if the Unger pill works very well, have heard it disolves slowly but seems to me a person could just crush it up before you put it in the water, have also heard it works well with a dash of dish soap. Any experiences with it?

What I’m still confused about is guys using a window specific soap like those made by Unger, Ettore, or Titan and then adding dishsoap. I’ve heard the argument that it adds slip but if that’s what your after why not just use the dishsoap and be done?
If I need any slip I use a friction reducer which is designed for that purpose.

I agree. Sometimes, a generic chemical will work just as well as a “specialty” chem, and cost less

I tried them back when I was working for someone else. They made the solution squeaky and sticky feeling, I am not a fan. I’ll stick with dawn until something better comes along

Adding dish soap to the window cleaning specific detergents does seem a little silly when you can just use dish soap alone.

I used the Unger Pill briefly when I started 5 years ago but didn’t care for it. Switched to GG4 with added slip for several years then finally switched to Dawn dish detergent earlier this year. I much prefer Dawn over anything I’ve ever used. I don’t think I’ll ever switch back to any of the designer soaps unless they come out with one that works better than Dawn without having to add a friction reducer.

Bottom line, it’s just personal preference. Use what works wel for you.

I dont understand why you would have to add 2 things together to get something that will clean windows. Just a splash of dawn will do it just fine. The cost is low and very easy to find on the run.

You folks ever hear of the synergistic effect?

I’m not arguing that it applies in this case, but…

I’ve been experimenting with a few things and my favorite so far is using the pill and blue dawn(though I really dont like the cost of it…) with a combination of both i get alot of slip and not alot suds(just enough to see my work easily). with dawn by itself I end up with too much suds if i use enough for good slip… Though it worth the cost for the pill? NO not when its $48 for 100 tabs. Not when dawn is $3 a bottle.
