Those who have Chevy/GMC Vans (Astro, Safari, etc..)

I am still using my 2002 Astro Cargo van. It has 104,000 miles on it and still runs great. It replaced another Astro that had way over 150K miles on it. That van still ran great as well and was only replace by my current Astro when a tree fell on it during a windstorm.

Just picked up my 2002 Astro van a couple of weeks ago to replace my Dakota. I used to have a 1996 Astro many years ago - was a great van. This one is very nice and comfortable and gets about 15/16 mpg city depending on how I drive. Getting a Yakima roof rack with telescoping extension to the front cross bar next week for the ladders.

OH Nooo Garry is almost back in play guys…

Astro vans are great little vans.

I like the size of the of Astro but I don’t like that they are all getting older. I think 2002 was the last year so they will start getting more scarce and need more work. For the short term, an Astro still makes sense. I also am not impressed with the gas mileage. A full size van almost gets the same mileage. Plus they are bigger, still being produced so more plentiful and made by Ford or Chevy so you have a choice. For the long term investment, a full size might be a better choice. I am very impressed with the Nissan NV 2500.

Getting there! Still a ways away from slinging an extension ladder, but single story one armed jobs are a distinct possibility - under the influence of Ibuprofen-800 of course. Finally got off the Oxycodone. That is some bad s&!# for the body but needed to absorb the pain. Bad thing is I have to now get past “golfers elbow” - after 2 months of recovering what else?! Most of my regulars are 2 and 3 story though. (smh) Luckily for me they are loyal and willing to wait until I’m capable.

2005 was the last roll out year.

Just personal preference I like fullsize vans but the astro is awesome.
