Tips for running ads on google

So I started my business in July just part have been getting about 1k to 2k a month doing it I want to get busier though. I ran my first ad two weeks ago and got many calls, already made 1.8k out of an Ad that I spent $100 on. Sweet right? But now it seems to have slowed down. I live on Long island and I’m not sure if its my ad that i should be changing or if it just gets this slow in my area around this time of year. Anything helps

Thanks!!

I’m in a similar market on the other side of the city in NJ, and a Google Ads expert.

There’s a few things that may be going on here.

Business slows down in a major way this time of year. There’s always a lull between the back to school rush (which didn’t really happen this year) and the pre=Thanksgiving rush (we’ll see if it happens). Your ads will only be found if people are actively searching for them (at least that’s the case if they’re set up right), There are a few other factors affecting search volume for our luxury services as well… the election, COVID, and the fact that the world is actively on fire in 2020.

Second, you may have experienced I call the “honeymoon” in Ads. When you are a new Ads account, Google is notorious for making your ad overperform for a few weeks then bringing you back down to the level playing field that everyone else is on. They want you to see that it “works”, aka attribution, so you dump more money in, as they are a for-profit company. Unfortunately, you are going to have to step up your game.

I asked a similar question not long ago and my understanding is that google doesn’t care about you until you start dropping serious cash (500-1000+).

One Google Ads/SEO expert said you’re pretty much guaranteed to make at least 5x the amount you put in though. They recommend you have a pretty sweet website before getting into that

If we don’t get a 10-1 ROI on Ads then I have to check if something is wrong.
I spend multiple thousands a month tho.

That’s really encouraging to hear Chris. We’re looking to set up google ads next season and don’t mind at all dropping big money to get a solid ROI.

Then again… who knows what next spring will look like. COVID has made everything so unpredictable.

I guess I’m gonna have to do some heavy research and change up my ads. Do you have any youtube videos or content that may be helpful?
