Whatever you say bro. Tips are a way of saying “thank you” “good job” or “I appreciate your hard work.”
When people say “wow, thanks for doing such a great job,” do you “educate them” on why it’s your job to provide them great service, and they shouldn’t thank you?
Yes I do, as it is my job to provide them with a great service and them tipping or not should not have an affect on my performance. On a return visit to a non-tipping client do you do less than great service? My tip is a repeat customer, if I had employees making $15/hour I would have no problem with them being tipped.
I have a good friend of mine that has been cutting my hair for years. She always does a great job… so I always give her a tip. It’s just my way of saying thank you.
if you get a tip cleaning windows…that’s great! If you don’t…no big deal. Just do the best you can every time! it’s all good!
18% for someone who makes $2 an hour is not ridiculous. No matter how much she messed up. She didn’t stick it to you on purpose. You were probably a pretty difficult and demanding table. She forget the lemon in your water, or the cheese with your whine?
I look at it from a slightly different perspective:
When I studied Karate in my teens, there came a time that I was going to be promoted to the next belt. I didn’t think I was ready. But my Sensei explained that turning it down would actually be viewed as an insult to him; That I would be (in a sense) saying that I didn’t think that his judgement (or decision to promote me) was correct; That the promotion was a type of gift-giving. Needless to say I accepted the promotion.
So I use the same ideology with clients: When they decide that they want to give me a gift/tip, I don’t insult them by saying ‘No’. I accept so that they can feel good about what they have decided to do.
2 dollars an hour … Good analysis, They make minimum wage between 9 and 10 bucks an hour…Mostly to waiter/waitresses and few others like people who cut your hair when ya got it !!!
Personally I believe tipping is for good service and I always tip at least 20% but if they’re to lazy then I’ll still tip @ 5% ergo if they don’t come and refill or ask to refill my coffee at least once , or if at dinner there may be a few of us and they bring the food to each at different points or they just don’t provide good service …Truly though most do buuuuuuuuuuut every once awhile they don’t so I let them know by how I tip
As for window cleaning when you get paid between 65 to 125 an hour one should never expect a tip but when you do get one , one should always be grateful because the client is showing another way of thanking you and liking you !
Every worker is guaranteed minimum wage ! It’s the law ! Federal and state law ! If not then they’re being ripped off !
Butt thanks for your input Jay-Man…
Dang-er
ooops I was wrong…minimum is no more then 8.25… oooops wrong again…9.10
Plus if your right Jay-Ski then they better provide good service ! Also restuarant that do that are ripping them off, no matter what state they’re in and if the state allows it it"s a pretty bad stated process ! DON"T LIVE THERE ! ! Washington won’t allow it !
Welp good education “All Washed Up”…They’re getting ripped off , and they better provide good service because that is what tips are all about , oh Washington state treat workers fairly !
