Tired Of These Cheap Window Cleaners

Covid. That’s the answer I got when someone said last guy did everything for $175 and I was charging double. He stopped work over covid, and this was in August. Meanwhile we’re having the best September ever.

The manager actually called me back lol.
We negotiated to $125.
They will remove objects prior to the service.
Can’t really pass this up because the outside will take like 20 minutes and this monthly recurring account will help a lot my first year.
Got 2 solid commercial accounts so far!!

The lady told me she just didn’t hear from him anymore.
Almost as if he just disappeared off the face of the earth.

he wasn’t making enough money and either went out of business or dissolved the bottom.

THIS is what I mean and frankly, I don’t mind explaining to customers.

We charge double but we will ALWAYS take your calls and service your home

we are in a free market society, people have a right to charge less than you the same way you have the right to charge more than them. the customer will decide, there is more glass out there than you can clean.

Yep, just did a $900+ job. When I gave the price the customer said “Lets go ahead and schedule now while you’re here.”
You do you, The Cheap Guy will do him.

How long did that take

did a job the other day and the woman showed me the flyer that inspired her to have her windows cleaned. from a guy who quoted her 40 for outs, we quoted about 250 for in and out.

2 guys 4.5 hours, plus got a $60 tip.

I would of told her to hurry an call those guys before they go out of business, but make sure you inspected each piece of glass for scratches before they leave .:joy::joy:

the guy has a right to make a living and i have no reason to think he would not do a great job and she hired me not him.

I agree with many of you on here, no doubt about it. HOWEVER, the “cheap guy” STILL has a right to make a living— in a pandemic with tens of millions unemployed, you are going to have an influx of “cheap guys”. Remember, they don’t last. If they do last, they are backed up due to so many low paying jobs. It’s not my opinion, it’s a fact-- ask any of them…

After all these years, they still ask if you will do it cheaper “FOR CASH”. LOL…beer money, pretty much. I’m beginning to understand after 15 years, you can charge whatever you want— the RIGHT FIT customers will find you, leave the pennypinchers (i say that because WINDOW CLEANING is a LUXURY service…not for your everyday 50k a year people— …target medium income of 200-300k…)

Remember, “the other guy” is not who that person is calling— I wonder why…(you know why)

But that’s not making a living . Unless you high balled it ? And yes he has a right to not make a living.

had an older guy this week, (first problem a guy, not a woman for a home), large custom home, 3 stories, side of hill, wanted mirrors inside, had a home gym mirrors everywhere, give him price, it’s the whole dramatic bazaar type response, “that’s outrageous!” yeah right, whatever, i know exactly what it’s going to take, he’s pushing me out the door an shuts door hard, like he’s taking it all personal, whatever. he had a guy for 15 years, probably dirt cheap, hasn’t liked the other companies he’s had since

if he didn’t push me out the door so fast I would have asked what he was paying before (just for fun to hear how ridiculously low it woulda been) then I would have nodded knowingly and told him you know what you need is a sideliner, part time or newbie (who would learn from that job that they never want to do it again lol)

the point being people have a number in mind to begin with, others might be streetwise business types and will only bite if they feel they are getting an absolute steal (they don’t even really care about quality or if they do they will hover and grind whoever puts up with them)

after all these years funny how you can size up and categorize someone in a short time when at the house

I loved this post so much :joy:
Reminds me of a time I was canvasing for new work, older gal asks if I’ll look at her screens she had stored in her basement for a quote on replacing them.
Walk through her house, downstairs, give her the quote. “That’s highway robbery! I can take them to the window shop in town for that price!”

I said “Completely understand, please do.”

What an awkward walk up the stairs, and through her house that was.:joy:
