To those who do gutter protection

What’s the easies fastest gutter protection option, I have 600 LNFT to clean and protect

Slimguard, the replacement for RainFlo.
It’s the easiest I’ve ever installed.

A nice Detroit Michigan based company, I might add…

What is the cost per ft of slimguard?

Where do you get it?

I’m gonna TELL YA $3 bucks, but that’s because I don’t know where you are.
And I’d rather be heavy on any expectations, than light…
(that’s always a bummer when shit costs more than you expect.)

Either way, I charge 9 with the install.
Better yet, $7 bucks for warranty work with no cost for material.

 • and the factory ships direct to the customer- N/C

Sweet! Thank you!

So $7 when they provide the material?

I install GutterStuff. They have 5 warranty options. 3yr, 5yr, 15yr, 25yr and lifetime warranties. I personally only install the 25yr and Lifetime warranty products because they have a fire retardant coating on them. I installed the Lifetime on my home 7 years ago.

What would you say your close rate is? I checked this stuff out and I’m pretty excited about it…I’m just thinking most people will be too cheap to go for it.

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure how my close rate is, I’m sure it’s not great.
But on the other hand, I don’t get a ton of specific requests, so it could very be high.
(I could tell you how many I’ve DONE, but a lot of the time protection is an “also might be interested” sidenote.)

As far as the ‘cheap cust’ aspect, I’ve had people ask if they bought some meijer or home depot guards, would I install them.
I absolutely refuse to do that. I don’t back any other materials than the ones I choose.

The thing is, I don’t really care if they go for it, I kind of would rather have the exposure to the customer a couple time per year.
Once you’ve done a protection, you don’t have that constant interaction.
“Outta sight, outta mind” I guess, is my fear.

I should clarify. I’ve never had a cust purchase/supply the material.
Warranty work is for the old Rainflo, and at that point it would technically be “replacement.”

 • which comes from factory, to the customers house.

I’m thinking of trying this…Let me install the gutter protection, it still needs to be “maintenance cleaned” yearly, so I’ll charge like 50 to get the little bit of debris off the screens and flush out the gutters…Tried that with my first Slimguard sales attempt today, and she lived the idea. That saves the customer money AND keeps us in front of them, also giving opportunity to assess the need for PW, roof cleaning, WC, etc.
JfromtheD Does that soundalike it would work?..BTW, to satisfy my curiosity, how many have you sold?

I used to install gutters and I still do some gutter guard installs… I buy stuff from gutter supply companies there is usually one in most mid sized towns.
U can buy basic screens for $.75 a ft and sells for 1.75 to 2.00 installed
U can buy a hard cover for around 1.00 and it sells for 3.00 to 4.00 it comes with a 5 to 10 year warranty. I have sold the 25 year warranty stuff , we always used rhino covers and leaf solutions. Cost 3.50 and we sold it for 7.00 to 8.00 a ft

I don’t know, man. At that point you are adding to the lifetime cost of ownership,
on something that you are conversely selling as a longevity solution.

 • that’s your call.

True…I am very concerned about staying in front of the customer, like you were mentioning earlier, so I’m brainstorming about this. I’m also thinking that most people are pretty jaded because of all the high-dollar “maintenance free” gutter protection that hasn’t kept their gutters truly clean AFTER costing a ton of money. I think it builds trust when you let them know that, yes, SOME maintenance will always be required with ANY gutter protection system. The customer today, for example…when I said “but $50 a year for a quick cleaning…” (She finished) “…sure beats $150!”

Hopefully she was not the rare person who “gets it”…We’ll see.

JfromtheD I have my first install this Monday. Did you get the display model with sales pamphlet? They send it free and it addresses the maintenance requirements for you.

I really want to thank you for introducing me to Slimguard! They seem like great folks and have been excellent to deal with.

I’m interested in Slimguard[emoji768] but Only 2 dealers in California and they dont seem to be close to me

That’s great news, I’m excited for you!
If you run into any trouble let me know and I can help walk you through it.
(doubt you will need any help, it’s pretty easy)

I use a lightweight pair of snips to make my cuts, and after a while you ill get to the point where you instinctively know how far to cut in.
But at first its probably good to make a template… the piece removed from a good cut will give you a nice pattern to make your other cuts with.

The pieces will seem like they want to curve upward, but if you slide your hand across and apply a little pressure, they will flatten out nicely.

Also, check out the display model they gave you. Maybe take the piece out, so you can see how they cut the fold for the end.
The ends may be the only section the customer sees from the ground, so I like it to look really tight/clean.

Great advice…Thank you!

They have a template to help with the end caps now that’s printed on one of the end flaps of the box, and that’s what I’m using to start with, but I’m sure I’ll have to tweak it a bit.

Call them directly. There was no dealer listed near me either, but they put me in touch with one. Plus, you just order by phone from the company and they ship directly to you at no extra charge. Great folks there!
