Tool storage

I would really like to get better organized. what do you guys use for tool storage? I am thinking of several different rectangle 6 gallon buckets with lids for different kits each a different color. I like the square buckets because they will stack well although they are much more expensive than a round bucket.

  1. soap and chemicals
  2. squeegee handles, t bars, brushes and stuff
  3. towels
  4. window tinting kit
  5. wfp kit

my other idea is a bucket boss type of system

Ideas?

thanks

I use rubber maid totes. Several different sizes. I have an across the bed tool box that I keep my squeegees, scrubbers and all my soaps and chemicals.

I use something like this for one toolbox:

Trademark ToolsT Stackable Mobile Tool Box with Wheels: Other Home Improvement : Walmart.com

On mine, the front of the bottom slides open for easy access.

The top keeps squeegees/t-bars/scrapers/soap. The bottom holds my “sharps” and rubbers box, boabs, and WFP brushes.

Then I have one of these:

Husky 22 in. Cantilever Plastic Organizer with Metal Latches-17185073 at The Home Depot

Which I call the Pure Water box.

The top organizer holds all sorts of jets, connectors, knickknacks and doodads. The bottom, stuff like whack adapters, reach arounds, extra hose parts, marine putty and the such.

Finally, I have one of these:

Husky Bucket Jockey-82045N12 at The Home Depot

Which I cut down the seam and screwed to the side wheel well of my trunk. Holds all the random stuff like channels, muggle tools, etc.

These 3 items live on the left side of my trunk. On the right side I strap my DI tank to the back of the seat, keep my hoses and poles and keep the “dirty” rag bucket.

Clean rags and strip washers live on the back seat in a nice pile.

This setup is for a Ford Exploder, but I hope it helps.

Like the stackable I want a Stanley 4-in-1 mobile toolbox. Have never bought one. I did see one at a pawn shop the other day. Great condition. Only $50. Beats having a bag for this and a box for that. Can fill it with all the special sauce and tools and bring to house. Need something, there it is. One of my subs uses one for all her cleaning stuff. Lately I use the double sided bucket on a luggage cart to wheel around and has all the need now stuff. Leave the Husky wheeled tote with the xtra soaps and goodies. Think I will get the stackable today and get organized with everything in one box. Put the need now into the bucket and put back when done. Thanks
Saw the darn thing now you brought it up so must mean I need to get it now. Going to start wearing a tin foil hat to keep the idea fairy away. Never seems to fail. I think about something and “poof” there is a post about it. On second thought, will keep the hat off. These ideas are very helpful. Almost a validation. We all must be on the same wavelength or something.

Did get the 4-in-1. Holds all my normal plus my new const goodies. Big blue bucket fits nicely on top or second shelf when opened. I did replace my belt with a Walmart tool belt. Has 2 big pouches on the side for bottles 6" scraper in inner pouch… guess I’ll load it up and find the newbie tool belt post with a pic.

I’m always amazed at the cool stuff u come up with!

Thanks, brother

Happy to share. Just recycled stuff from the internet & my own sparks of imagination. It’s fun to see the million different ways to do something.

How did you mount the wood to your wall of the van.
