I use 2010pro. Upgraded from 2006 pro. Always wanted to be able to access the info from anyplace. I tried their online but it’s limited in customizing your invoices estimates etc. Well I guess quickbooks does not advertise much that you can access the software remotely. In the upper left on the file menu is a button for remote access. You have to sign up with a service that is basicly remote desktop. In the past when I used remote desktop it was hit or mis. But this product has worked great. It cost $7.95 per month and the 1st 6 months are free. At lot cheaper then the online. And a lot more stable then your standard remote desktop. Not sure if the service works with older versions, but it is possible.
Good to know, Ray. Thanks. Do you need any special computer hardware or software to make this work? I saw Ron M. had a you tube video of him using QB’s with an iPad, using a remote server.
We just switched to QB online a few months ago. I like it alright, but there are some things that are quirky and you can’t do without the full version. You have given me something to think about, and I will be looking into this option.
Anyone know if there is a way to use QB’s online with an iPad? Safari doesn’t support it.
There is a software that you need to DL from the company they are providing the service with. Webex. It will run in the backround and again has been working flawless since we started using it last month. The connection is very good. I have accessed my computer from my mothers house and it’s no differant then being at my desk. Very smooth. Over the month there has been a little delay once or twice but mainly do to the computer having to access the drive for one reason or another so it caused a burp. But again, very very smooth. I like that it has an option to work full screen so it looks like the software is on the computer you are working on.
Now that my customer base is growing in the 100’s and has repeat business…
Does this software offer a place to store all your customers and their account.
I would love to have a search feature to locate a client also.
I am using excel and it takes me a few minutes to locate an account now.
Sure does. It’s built for business. As far as a search feature, you can pull up a report of all your customers and filter it. Personally I input my customers Last name, First name. They are stored alphabetically so it’s just a matter of scrolling down the list. The software is so much better then excel. Also on that note you can input all your customers data with the 2010 version with a copy and paste of multibles. You have to orginize it but it’s not that hard. In the past you would have had to input each customer one at a time. Now you can copy and entire column from excel (say their last names) and paste it into a quickbooks column of last names. Again everything needs to be orginized or you will end up pasteing in wrong info. But also again, not that hard. For a small business I don’t see another software product that is worth the money. If you are doing taxes yourself you can also purchase turbo tax which will import all your quickbooks data.
