Hey guys, simple question. How do you guys hold your towels on your belt? Usually I have them in one of the larger pouches, but maybe this is just a winter probably - with my winter waterproof gloves its super annoying to grab them and then try to let them go, they basically stick to my gloves… lol. Wondering if you guys have any cool gadgets you use to have a nice spot for them.
I work two rags, one in each pocket, sometimes a third in my cargo pocket.
A wet rag on my left to wipe frames and sills before a squeegee, a dry one on my right to wipe after squeegee. When the wet rag becomes totally saturated it goes in a pile, the dry one moves over to the left and becomes the wet one, and a fresh dry one goes in the right pocket.
I rarely need more than 6 rags unless it’s a huge job.
They way I stuff towels in pants/shorts pockets created holes (in the pockets) with the friction so I bought a nail apron for a buck and tied it to my work belt. It’s been useful for holding manufacturer stickers we remove at times and also holiday lighting clips/plugs etc.
I like the ettore belt with the big leather loop for my detail towel. I have those maglite belt holders for my other towels. They work really well and snap onto my belt.
I have a loop for my scrim, spare rag gets tucked into the rear of my belt and damp rag is over shoulder.
I used to work with guys who used to tuck their damp rag in their pockets they would always have a wet leg by the end of the day.
I carry two slop rags in the Moerman pouch, and my detail cloth in a bullring on my belt. Never had to deal with freezing temps but it works well for me.
My brother just pulls his rags through between his belt and his body. Works best if your gut is smaller than your waist.
Most belts come with what are called belt keepers. these keepers help your best stay snug on your waist. If you buy the nylon ones or have the nylon ones, these work great to hold a towel. However, over time I have found that they do stretch and don’t hold very well. I saw a guy one time using a clothes pin.
I work 3 rags and usually always have one or maybe two in my back sorbo loop. I use a yellow micro fiber for cleaning tracks and even edges before it’s soaked works great (buy huge packs from Costco they hold a shit ton of water) then I use Xero baby blue rags for detailing and have recently bought the squeegee life orange towels, then lastly the darker blue surgical towels just to have dried ones for anything that needs dried. I carry all the rags on my sorbo looped belt and now have been using the window cleaning leather add on loops that work great. I wash all my rags with very minimal soap or even no soap sometimes because I find it leaves them with no residue on there.
