Track Cleaning, do you do it?

May I make a suggestion Mr. Monkey Man just charge $11 per window, not separate $10 plus $1,your already there.

Hmmm… That is an idea…
What I have been doing so far is if someone is ā€œwafflingā€ on price - kicking in screens for free…
But I like the idea of simple pricing - it’s how I want to run my business - High Quality, Honest, Simple & Straightforward.
Not too much skin off my nose at this point of growing my business to kick in those screens, but maybe I should think about just making everything all inclusive - 100% window service + tracks. That would make things simple with no upselling to worry about.
I’m going to sleep on it

This is what I do. I keep it simple. Everything included in the price. I also charge the same for most windows, large or small. It’s too difficult for me, the customer or my wife if she answers the phone. I like simple. And I like like Art’s method, my price is not negotiable.

I always give them the all inclusive price. Windows. Screens. Tracks. Sills
"Since we’re hear lets just get it all done" type of selling quote
But I can break it down because alot of people don’t even have screens

I also include tracks to be brushed and vacuumed then wiped with a damp cloth, also i include a dust and wipe of the screens as the majority of the screens here are fixed washing the screens in place will be extremely time consuming. As i have to enter the house clean all the tracks before i can wash the screens or else the tracks are 10x harder to clean as the dirt has now become mud, i charge extra to wash the screens.
Most of the time if the screens are at a point they need to be washed then the rest of the house is at that point too, it usually isn’t to difficult to up sell a house wash.

Are you guys cleaning the tracks from inside the house or when you’re outside on a ladder?

from the inside

I always start inside with a vacuum and track brush from WCR. Vacuum all the tracks then start cleaning interior glass. I’ll wipe each track with a sea sponge, also from WCR, as I clean each window.

Hey Mike I do them from the inside.

Mike how do you do them inside or from the outside?

I have an older Dirt Devil Scorpion Turbo I bought new in 2008. Still works great today.

I just use a small shop vac. I would love to find a compact cordless vac.

Complete hijack of the subject… But I love tool names… Someday I am going to dress like a hobo when doing storefront and am going to start leaving out the ā€œtoolā€ part of tool names, then get a crazy look in my eyes and start talking to people about what I use on the job…

ā€œYeah I use an 18ā€ Smurf Ninja to clean windows… Sometimes I switch out the Smurf and use a Pickle. When I do peoples homes I clean up dirt with my Scorpion Turbo and Hogs Hair.

Ok… I’m done, back to the subject :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you guys think about a corded vs. cordless handheld vacuum?

Steve:
I use to almost always do them from the outside. Close the window and keep the dust and debris outside. Now that I try to use my water fed pole as much as possible I’ve been doing the tracks and screens while I am inside.

Cordless DeWalt.

Well I don’t know what that is all about but for track cleaning (subject), which is included in the price unless it’s real bad, the DDST does a powerful job for getting to the dirt before my cleaning process turns it to mud. I guess I should have attached a photo too. Anyway, a nice battery operated one will probably replace it when the time comes. For now - strong suction, compact size, hose attachment, and long cord makes it easy to do all windows in a room.

Included, If nasty with flies, Dyson DC35 or 44, then a wipe out after wfp and interior glass is done. Yesterday I did a nice job, new client, had her old window cleaner for 20 years. I know of him, he had health issues so I’ve picked up a few of his more difficult jobs. H O asked how he did, I said he did great, except he Didn’t clean your tracks…lol. I charge 3x what he charges. That is the first hurdle picking up his old clients…

Anybody here ever use an air compressor? I want to get them cleaned as quick as I can. Right now I’m using a track brush and shop vac. Would the air compressor be better?

An air compressor would be to bulky and loud also to messy.

not to mention where does all the dirt go if your blowing it out?
I guess if the tracks are external it might work, here every sliding window has an internal track and most windows are sliders.
