Hey guys and gals I have a question about some windows I did this past Monday. They are Milgard triple pane glass vinyl frames. They are made for sound deadening. From the outside they look like a normal vinyl window with a double pane thermal unit installed then there is a 2" space between the single pane on the interior of window. The single pane is held in with vinyl strips that can be removed for cleaning. I hope that can give you a good enough pic in head, but I will post pics when I have time.
The Problem is moister builds up from the heat/ cold fluctuation and condensates on the inside of the double pane of glass. Does anyone know of a product that can be purchased and installed between the single pane and the thermal pane? Just a little research for the home owner that Im doing. The brainstorming that comes from this site is phenomenal and know there will be some answers out there.
Thank you for any and all input you all are great.
Moisture is going to keep coming. It will overwhelm whatever they put in there.
If they can’t get a perfect seal to keep moisture out, they’ll be better off increasing ventilation somehow.
Gary I love your expertise and your opinion means a lot to me. The condensation that occurs between thermal panes of glass will eventually overwhelm the product that the manufacture installs between the panes although the thermal panes are sealed that does not stop the condensation issue that occurs.
So I am just looking for the same kind of product to put in-between the thermal pane and the single pane of glass. I have already explained the issue of condensation with the home owner and they understand.
Thank You Gary I appreciate your input.
If you’ve already explained - is that because they saw condensation soon after you cleaned?
Make sure they don’t blame you for any of this - for leaving water behind, or for recommending an action that may not work.
What you can do is make a show of using a blow dryer to be sure none of your wash water is contributing to their condensation problem.
If their setup doesn’t work, they should take this up with their window supplier, because continual condensation in a confined space is going to cause glass corrosion.
Gary I had no idea about the corrosion issue thanks for the info. The condensation issue was there before I cleaned that is why I left the single panes out until I finished cleaning all the windows. There was about 50 windows and only a couple had moisture between the next day so I came up and removed the glass and cleaned and reinstalled. The owner payed me for the trip to come back out. They have the manufacture coming out to look at the windows and it sounds like they have done this before with the manufacture.
