Once in awhile during a full moon I might get deranged…
Yep as you say some tools stand the test of time…“The Tried and the True” Natural Sea-sponges, Ettore Channels, Ms.Tucker Pole, Squeegee holsters, and of course and most diffidently and not leastly TSP OH Yeah…
Yo English John…
How’s it going brother, the belt worker I grabbed from Karl’s thread; Yep diffidently both are " Sons of Ettore " !

just a few quick points! first is that I could build still build a house using a handsaw, hammer, and square nails. All three of which have passed the test of time, but why would i do that when there is modern technology that allows me to do the same work in a fraction of the time with as good or better quality!
When it comes to window cleaning the methods I was originally taught work great, but in the years since then I have discovered better tools and techniques that allow me to give consistent quality in a fraction of the time. As a professional in this industry I have to constantly learn and keep an open mind to newer and better tools and techniques. (example) I own a 50ft tucker pole that is just a bear to work when I’m doing 3-400 windows at a time. I would love to own a new carbon fiber pole that is a fraction of the weight. Less weight= less fatigued=better quality+more production which = more $$$ in my pocket and a happier customer.
just my .02
Ettore is " The Tried and The True "…The Rubber, the Channels, the handles…That’s a given and others just try to copy their stuff !
Being a " Son of Ettore " doesn’t mean you use Ettore products… It means Established ways in the industry, ways the cleaners of old
who made this industry have past down to those in the industry … One thing being a " Son of Ettore " is carrying the torch from those who have past down the proven knowledge of our industry and the proven methods and processes, which create true Window Cleaners and True Journeymen…Then passing it on to others open to " THE TRIED AND THE TRUE ".
Very cool. Love the sea sponges. New squeegee technology out there. Some good, some not so good. But the old brass works just as well. It’s crazy doing a high rise with a 18". Kinda small.
Dang, Out of curiosity why do you like TSP, isn’t that hard on the hands?
I Like TSP because it’s just the best cleaner out there and window cleaners have been using it for decades. The best grease cutter and glass glistener…also it don’t sud, so that works great with sponges and it has a slip that really slides, that being there’s no need to add a slip ingredient !
I’ve used just about every kind of soap and TSP is a proven commodity, truly " THE TRIED AND THE TRUE " ! Try it you’ll like it.
Yes it can be hard on some peoples hand, those who have dry skin or a tendency for dermatitis . Dish soap years ago did the same thing and some folks would get what they called dish-pan hands. Then they put emollients into dish soap and that helped with that !
I just used some TSP to clean some office building windows today… it dried my hands out pretty good. No problem though, just put a tiny dab of bag balm on my paws when I got home, healed them right up. It’s medicated If it’s good enough for cow udders in Vermont then it’s good enough for my window cleaner hands.
Good to see your open to using “The Tried and The True”,“TSP”…I know how well it really works but give us your thoughts on it my new friend.
Great you sharing the BAG BALM with us, where do you get it !
One other point is, as you can see in the photos with those couple of “Sons of Ettore”, they are using natural sea-sponges. Are you using sea-sponges yet ? They are highly functional and are true tools of Window Cleaners ! They’ve been around from the on-set of window cleaning !
If you haven’t tried one yet give it a try like you did with the TSP and you’d realized as with the TSP the sea-sponge is rock solid in its working ability !
