This is the closest category I could come up with for venting about Ettore’s newer items.
I’ve always liked Ettore products and have some pretty old extension poles still in use.
Unfortunately, as you may be able to see in the picture, their newer clamp that goes inside the newer cone is not compatible with some of their older poles.
This is a large cone/clamp I bought as a replacement on my 15’ and 18’ poles. The 4 contact points are larger than before and won’t go through the holes in the pole. That doesn’t make me happy. So I need to throw away my very usable old poles when the clamps wear down and buy new poles?? They don’t make the rings for the older tips anymore either.
So I’m going to try something like adhering P-tex (a plastic “candle” for repairing ski and snowboard bases…do they even sell that anymore?) If it works that will buy me quite a few more years of pole use I should think.
bummer… sorry Dan.
I hope that works for ya bro.
Well put it this way, if you end up throwing away your old poles, send em my way. I’ll pay for shipping. I’m sure I’ll find some use for them somehow…
This sucks i have a 30 foot ettore pole thats 15 years old that i like and if they dont make that part anymore what a waste to throw a perfect pole away.
Lucky i still have 2 replacements left when they finally break down .
I have a few old ettore poles that I don’t use. I’ll take a look and see if the internal parts will do you any good. I just prefer an Unger pole. I lose them before they break, and find them again before I have to buy new ones!
Thanks guys!
As a temporary, shot in the dark type of fix, I actually stuck a little wood filler on the contacts. The extra material seems to be holding the middle length in place. Not sure how long it will hold, but it should save some money for now.
Does anyone know where i can find some older style clamps i just had 2 poles that blew out and need these parts that no ne seems to sell anymore.
I hate to throw away 2 good poles.
Have a look at Vileda or Pulex threads - think they are very near or the same.
I tried the ptex and made a video of it, presenting it as a smashing success. Sadly, since it is or is like wax, the fix doesn’t last very long. I tried a moldable plastic as well and didn’t have any better results. Thanks for the tip Karl.
I know this is an old post but… wrap the inner ring with the four clamps in electric tape… worked well for me so far.
Thank you Mike for that suggestion. I’ll give that a try when I head back out next week.
Every window cleaner should carry a full roll of electric tape - it’s saved me many a time!
Don’t all manufacturers do this. I have an Unger pole that my local supplier told me that they did not make replacement parts for.
I am not trying to take anything away from what you are saying, but they all have to discontinue eventually.
Which model?
Well i had another pole blow out.
I tried wrapping duck tape and electrical tape around the four points.
Was wondering if anyone has any extra large cones that they don’t need anymore
Or anymore fixes would be great to hear.
That sucks. I’ve got the interlock but I think I’ll go back to the optiloc since unger hasn’t changed their pole in forever.
What if you just took a screwdriver and wallowed out the holes until the new ones fit? Or some tin snips and just cut out some tabs?
