I’m curious if any of you have television in your place of business or offices? I came across this ad from Direct TV and even though I have a small flat screen in my home office space, until recently I never considered it for the shop. I’ve thought about it lately though because the place seems so cold and uninviting. Some people claim they work better with a TV in the background, I usually listen to music or audiobooks. What about you?
From Direct TV:
When running a business it is extremely important to consider every possible way that you can grow and progress. DIRECT TV for offices enables you to optimize your office environment- whether in the break room, lobby or main office floor- your employees will appreciate you for it.
Help your employees keep up to date with breaking news by providing DIRECT TV for Offices. With more informed and focused employees, you can bet they’ll be more satisfied with their place of work and therefore more productive. Just because hard working professionals in your office have to work late or weekends, it doesn’t mean they have to miss the game! DIRECT TV for Offices enhances morale at the office and makes for a more amicable work place.
I have two 32 inch samsung Tv’s as dual monitors. One is hooked up to cable. Most sundays I’ll watch the game on one and office work on the other. I can’t imagine having it any other way, although I don’t know how long these will function using them as monitors. Before the Samsungs I had a 27 inch dell monitor I paid a fortune for. It lasted a year and a half. These have already lasted that long and have way better picture. Perhaps they’re bad on my eyes?
It wouldn’t be a distraction if viewed only during break or lunch hours. That might increase a company’s great-place-to-work value and actually increase productivity (as you are painfully aware, happy employees are more productive / unhappy employees are less productive.)
If were referring to a service business here, why would employees be taking a lunch break at your shop? I can see it in another industry, but not ours. you could always install one in the back of your work trucks…
TV? Hell ya I would. Give guys something to do in the mornings when raining (watching weather channel or news). I probably wouldn’t put on any actual shows when getting ready, but nothing wrong with catching up with the news. If you need their attention, turn it off or turn it down. Good for breaks and lunch time too.
But IMO, I wouldn’t go with Direct TV. Bad personal experience.
sounds like Directv is feeling some pain from Verizon Fios and housing is saturated since virtually nil built in the last 3 years
how giant corp grow by leaps and bounds every year to keep their stockholders happy if there’s no new homes to install them in? lol
I HATE tv or even the distant sound of it during work hours, but then I’m trying to get stuff done
the waiting room at a tire shop is a different story
or if you have a shop with a lot of guys hanging around a lot, diversify and set up a sports bar and make money off your employees before, during and after work in an additional way!
or a gym, they have tv’s
ok, too ambitious, lol
I wonder if Directv corporate has tv channels blasting thruought their offices on every floor? hmmm
I’d like to talk to you Mr VP, but this stupid CNN is onso loud I can’t hear a word you’re saying, let’s go golfing where it’s quiet
I basically have ESPN on a constant loop in my home office (with the volume low). When I move to a real office next year, will probably be the same thing.
We have a tv in the office only. I am very upfront about what is expected from the office manager. It works out well. Answering phones and doing paperwork all day long is like punishment with pay if you ask me. Internet usage is more of a concern if you ask me. I’ve had previous office help surf the Internet all day long and get nothing done. I have since installed SpecterPro monitoring and it has pretty much brought that to a standstill.
