UAMCC Convention, anyone?

So I recently saw info about this convention in Charlotte, NC. Steve Wright of The Customer Factor will be there, Keith Kalfas and even Perry Tait as a keynote speaker, no less.

So what’s the beef? I can see that there is some bad blood having to do with certifications, someone names Ron Muscgraves, who appears to have transgressed to the point of being banned, and maybe involving a Tony Evans. I couldn’t take time for a long drive all the way to DC back in August for the “Big Convention”. But this is only 4 hours away. Should I go? This is a free event. Are they gonna try to sell me a timeshare or something?

I would love to get some info from some of the sage window cleaners out there. But last time anyone seems to have asked the only response was “lolz”. haha http://windowcleaner.com/t/uamcc-2014-houston-tx/28715

i am planning on going to pwna instead. from what i understand they have more credibility in the industry.

I mostly do window cleaning with very little pressure washing thrown in. There are some names we all recognize that will be at this one though. Some of the classes look good too. I would love a chance to meet Steve Wright also. I just don’t want to go up there and really the “classes” turn out to be little more than demonstrations for the purpose of sales, with very little information actually there
.

I refuse to be affiliated with anything supported by Ron Musgraves. I have standards.

Sounds like you want to go, just do your thing

One of my things was to remain out of the industry drama this year.

while I have not attended a UMACC event I have spoke to several who have. Been to WCRA and WCR based events.

Pros and con’s to both. The main thing with any event you attend is the networking. Will be the most valuable thing you leave with no matter what.

Ron: it seems you either love him or hate him. Make your own decision based on your experiences.

It’s business, and you don’t have to like everyone you network with and learn from. Use your own independent judgement to decide for yourself if there are merits.

Once upon a time, I went to an industry event sponsored by the WCR, and it was great.

Did I personally like everyone that gave a presentation that weekend? No.

Did I learn a ton that helped my business? Yes.

Did some try to sell me things I didn’t want/need? Yes.

Did I have great networking opportunities and form relationships that still help me today? Yes.

Was it worth it? Yes.

And, as a side note, there were ALOT of people there that day whispering and gossiping about Mr. Tait because some people didn’t like him for reasons I never understood. Just because some people didn’t like him (due to much gossip on this forum), does that mean he doesn’t have valuable insight/information and great products that can help? Obviously Mr. Tait is a great resource for window cleaners and he makes some very creative products.

It’s business, it’s not personal. You don’t have to be friends with people to learn from them.
