I have done a few chain stores in our area for Solutions Management ( outsourcing company ). Currently working on bids for about 8 Ulta locations in my service area. Bidding windows and Awning. They have frequency for Awning at twice a year but refuse to stipulate the window frequency. Normally these companies are at Bi-monthly, Qtly, Semi- Annual.
This is ridiculous and creates an unfair position for anyone submitting a bid. True, it’s an even playing field in that we all have to freaking guess, It is a very unprofessional approach, although I am sure it is a play into their best interest ( SMI ) and how they can squeeze us. I will assume a twice a year rate to cover my ass. Don’t like dealing with intermediate broker companies.
Another one I deal with, Cintas, canceled Five Below work for January because of inclement weather…Really ? They get in the way and really have no clue how the industry ( we ) works. . I want to say, " Get out of the way ! ".
I put in my bid for a local Ulta last week as I do a few other stores for Solutions Management. I priced it high and will do it when they need but have no intention of trying to make them a great deal since they do squeeze us sometimes.
I do a job through Ellis subbed to me by another window cleaner the pay still isn’t half bad. I would prob charge $20 more if it were my personal job than what I get , but what am I going to say no to it because of that. Hells no… I do everything around it
That is route work every job you pick up isn’t going to be top dollar.
Funny thing is it’s not an Ulta , but there is a Ulta next door that I haven’t been asked to clean. I wonder what’s up with that.
The guy I sub it off of says they do clean them ( Ulta ) every once in a while , but it’s been 2 years now an nothing …
I do an Eddie Bauer for Cintas. Once a month. Outs then out and in every other month. The paper work is a pain. But the phone support is really good. And the price is good too. This is my only NSP job out of almost 200. I traditionally hate NSPs.
I have one Ulta store and it sounds like they (Ulta) is the process of brokering new contracts with service providers. I believe all stores are a minimum bi-monthly on the window cleaning and semi-annually on the awnings. They want to increase the awnings on some stores and now HVAC vent covers into the mix.
