Understanding Routine and Non-Routine Cleaning Procedures

Since I stopped writing “From the Lab to the Field” for the AWC the owner Michael Draper began writing a series called “Glass Science”. And he is doing a fantastic job. The latest article is “Understanding Routine and Non-Routine Cleaning Procedures”. He mentions the IWCA/GANA joint Bulletins which obviously place window cleaning into two different categories. He also proposes a Non Routine Construction Clean Liability Waiver and includes an excellent example of one. Everyone on this forum should download the latest AWC and read this article three times. Also you should download the IWCA/GANA bulletins on your phone so that you can show your current and potential customers. It is all about education. Maybe if we started walking away from jobs that were a total liability trap general conractors might get the idea that glass should be protected or else it will be “ruined” in the eyes of GANA. It would also be great if you went to the AWC TV and listened to Dr. Paul Duffers talk on this subject Part One.

It is time all of us did our very best to educate the people we work for. As a member of the Glass Committee I am very happy this day has come. Window Cleaning is so much more these days than it was 20 or 30 years ago!
