Anyone use this yet? I am looking for something for my pole work and wondering if anyone has used this and how it worked?
Any insight would be appreciated.
thanks
Dave
could you be more specific, I have one and like it, for some things it works great, for other things, not so well. What exactly are you wanting to do with it?
I have 2 of them. I use 1 to hold a towel, so that I can dry the edge of a window that we have to wash with the pole. the other 1 I put 2 pieces of steel wool in to remove marks that remain on the window after squeegeeing the window. I like it a lot.
I was thinking of using it to dry edges and what not after cleaning it with a pole. what other things can it be used for? what have you seen so far? what have you used it for? How has it worked?
I have the Ettore version. I love it for wfp touch up work. I put bronze wool in it and I can polish out any runners (water trapped in the window seal that seeps out later) on my final walk thru.
On 2nd story window sills where all the water set u can reach up and get l and top and right with one side of the clamp and save the right side for the bottom !! The angle just reaches in enouft to get this done. Also that tony said too !! I have 3-4 of there all set up !! Stan, pro window kleening , 27 years and proud
Where can I get that one? I didnt see it in the store? What does it look like?
thanks
I’m not sure that it’s in the store. I’ve had mine for years. It looks exactly like the Fixi-clamp but it’s black not green.
That reminds me - Alex can we get the Ettore clamp in the store?
Dave, go with the unger green one, alot better
Haven’t you heard Doug, black is the new green?
In all seriousness, Ettore makes a better product hands down.
What makes the Unger clamp a lot better than the Ettore?
What makes the Ettore clamp a better product than the Unger?
BTW, I have the Unger (it’s what my local jansan supplier had on hand when I first began WC’ing.) I’ve only used it with folded surgical and microfiber towels to date.
I think the fixi-clamp was designed to hold the rubber soot remover blocks that Unger makes. These rubber blocks are used to remove soot and smoke from painted and smooth surfaces. They fit perfectly into the fixi-clamp.
I never really understood the fixi-clamp until I saw these rubber blocks. It works for holding certain things for window cleaning, but not perfectly, as if it was made for it. It does work though, so it’s a good tool to have on hand.
I was speaking about Ettore products in general. Should have explained that better.
Ettore is now an official part of the WCR family as they get a butt smooch from Tony.
I’ve heard, but don’t know for myself, that the Ettore breaks more than the Unger. Maybe it’s made of a different composite or something.
And in keeping with the original question, “does it work well?”
I had mine for like 2 years before I noticed the holes in the top for those pads. I have no tried it yet but looks like you might be able to get a replaceable (janitorial) mop head in them. I was looking to get shawns reach around and put this on it. This way when it comes to using a WFP you can put a rag/towel in the clamp and some scrub pads on the other side with the holes. That gives you two more options of the end of the a wfp.
BTW I mainly use mine for scrub pads and towel holding. I have used them to clean edges and high reach sills. I like using it on the end of a procurve for that stuff.
In my experience with edge detailing and skylight cleaning – yep.
I have an Unger & Ettore. Even though they may appear the same, Ettore’s is more ridgid and works better. I’d go with Ettore if I were you.
The Ettore version of the FIXI Clamp will be in the store probably in about 2 weeks, but we’ll let you guys know when it’s in!
