What is Zep?
I have been thinking the same thing.
I look at the Unger Kit because just because I watched Beautiful View do the windows on a stair case in episode 5. The only episode I have watched⦠But enough for me to want to watch them all just based on the info I picked from that one video.
On the fence between the IPC and the Unger indoor kit.
I want to be straight pure water with squeegee back ups. Can it be done?
So far, on resi I take a Mr Clean and a spray bottle. Then squeegee off.
When I do this I ask myself, am I using too much water? Couldnāt I just use my porcupine strip mop for agitation instead of micro?
With a broken leg and broken ribs. I can WFP a $250 resi job and complete interior, exterior, tracks, sills and screens within 3.5 hours.
Not bad I guess. Bet if I knew what the heck I was doing⦠I could make that go quicker.
Keep in mind though. I used a cargo hitch hauler to mount my DI and have no hose reels yet.
Thanks Mark, I profit from watching your YouTube video. I also am trying out the Unger pad cleaning system and am curious what mix you recommend , 20% alcohol + 80% distilled water ? thanks Brad BD Janitorialāyes I bought my unger system from WRC
So I got the Unger Indoor pad system too(minus the pole, just got the thread adapter and put it on the lathe to work w/my Ettore pole). I used it for the first time at a Starbucks I do, 10 uppers, 10 lowers, 5ā x 6ā panes.
There seemed to be some frappachino/mocha-chai splatter on the uppers (ya reallyā¦) that had been on there for a while. I tried the indoor system but it didnāt seem to do the job unless that green fluffy washing pad was fairly damp (enough to leave the glass wet and take time to dry). It seemed to smear around stuff initially and didnāt get off the splatter the first time around. But I was able to use the polish pad and⦠well polish the glass so the smears/streaks/residue were gone.
It seems this is for well maintained glass without mocha-chai splatter to me. I tried the white scrubby pads and distilled water in the sprayer w/no success. If I used soap, Iād have to apply soap with one pad, take it off with another pad, then polish. I do have a grocery store that I know Iāll enjoy using this on.
Iām thinking I could have been done a lot faster (2hrs for $40, in & out) if I just used my wagtail on the insides. Is this on target w/the limitations of the pad/pure water system? Should it have worked better? Tips anyone?
I have great success with it on all jobs there are times where I use the white pad first if the windows need extra attention. I spray a missed on the glass and then scrub it and do all the windows at one time then go back with the cleaning pads The key is to find the sweet spot with the amount of mist you use on the pad. Itās not always faster than the traditional method but you do not risk dripping water
Regarding the smears and fireplace smoke that you could not get off: I have had the same problem three times. Each time the product that worked the best was -20 degree windshield washer fluid on the pad.
It is always really tricky using the indoor poles. I have found the only sure fire way to make them look half decent is to use only pure water and use a lot of pads!
I actually go as far as telling the customer what a realistic expectation of this method is.
That being said I only use as a last resort!
Good luck!!!
How often do you mist the pads?
Never have used the kit before .
@grady when the pad starts to drag on the glass lightly mist
@JOHN Thank you.
Wish I would have read this 7 days ago⦠lol
Hey guys, just got the kit. I plan on using it on interior windows of a restaurant which are cleaned monthly.
It sounds like the process that some are using with success ia this:
-
Pre wash with fluffy pad and 80/20 pure water/alcohol.
-
Buff clean with polishing pads.
Am i missing a step here? Also, someone else asked, but I dont think was answered l, do you think someone could i just use a clean sleeve/tbar with the solution, or is there something special about the fluffy pads?
iām confused and curious, why would you buy that now that the stingray is available?
Well, cost was a big factor. I have poles already, so just bought the pads and attachments and I figured Iād give it a try first.
Perhaps you could use the kit you own and buy the 3m glass cleaner - it seems thats where the magic is.
Thanks Eric. Ive been looking into the 3M cleaner too actually.
Iād really be interested in hearing from someone who has the old system and the stingray. Can the stingray clean more glass, make you more money, or does it just look cooler. Other than the automatic solution dispensing, the pad made from the same microfiber, correct? Does misting the old style pad with a spray bottle take that much time?
I just did the same thing because I already had a pad holder I never useā¦bought a few pads (1 fluffy, 3 cleaning) to try out on some panes above a small pool inside a building. Ill find out in 2 wks but im going to use 50/50 mix & 3m as a testā¦Ill post a pic tomo of how my friend & I modified the holder to get in corners like others have done with a twist
Awesome, looking forward to the update:)
Def not perfect but i look forward to seeing how it worksā¦thought I could imitate the stingray edges but the pads edge stiching wont stick to the velcro unless i add the opposite side of the velcro to it but we shall seeā¦haha after uploading the landscape shots dont look quite right but oh well the 1st was in portrait
