Ungers DI hydropower system

Has anyone used/had success with using Ungers DI system?

Thinking of getting into water fed poles, but not too savvy on how to use loose DI resin. This system just looks a lot easier for me. Let me know your thoughts.

Also, what if I had connected the unger hydropower to a water tank with a motor on it. Would that work? (Again my apologies if this sounds dumb. Not entirely sure what I’m doing. Just would like to get into it if I can)

Welcome

Do you know what you local tds reading is?

A quick google search turned up figures in the 70-110 ppm range, with certain areas as low as the 50’s. Water quality is pretty good in these parts

Don’t know about the Unger setup, but I have a Wash-it Pro and LOVE it!

Be sure to join the WCRA before you buy…you’ll save lots of money on your filter, pole, and all the other stuff you need. I wish I had joined before I got set up…would have saved hundreds of dollars this year.

No, unfortunately I do not know. =/

Thanks for the heads up. Was thinking about that as I haven’t even technically started the business yet. But heard it’s perfect for ones who are starting up.

Really hoping the idea of using Ungers new easy DI system works for me. If so, I think I might get a faster jump on water fed poles.

Welcome to the business!

By the looks of it, based on Alex’s tds findings in your area, you’ll need more filtration power than just the Unger di Hydro Power. I love my system but I’d use up the resin in a day without an ro membrane before the di.

I have close to similar readings as you. The Hydro Power di is extremely easy and convenient to use. The ro membrane is more complicated. I would suggest looking into that first.

What might be easier and simpler is make pure water at your home base and carry pure water in said tank. That way you will not need a heavy pump and battery to push water through an ro membrane in your vehicle. (it takes a lot of pressure) Let your water source do the work for you.

Then you can use a lighter pump on the job sight to apply the pure water from the tank. Or, use a smaller more mobile pump system as shown in the attached photo.

That looks pretty awesome, I’ve never seen one like this. Is that a battery on the bottom?

I have to say this thing works amazingly well.

Great new features that the Surflo backpack lacks.

It is a battery on the bottom but also the motor and controls. It’s the Gardiner version 2 unit. They already have a version 3 out in the UK but I doubt we’ll see it in N. america for a couple years. We’re so behind the innovative Europeans!

How much did that bad larry cost? I have a handful of jobs this would be perfect for next year.

I think I paid only about $300. That’s Canadian currency. So in US dollars it’s about $30 lol

Well I gotta get on that! Ha, how many gallons does this hold?

It holds about 5 gallons. With practice on well maintained jobs (3 months or more frequent) I can make that 5 gallons last maybe 30-35 minutes of use. Even more on monthly jobs.

That’s amazing, I am gonna have to search for this tomorrow and add it to my “gotta get for 2015” list then.

These tanks are generally backpacks from the chemical spray industry, I see them at the Canton Fair - the designs are usually owned or co-owned by a Chinese factory.

We tried sourcing Gardiner’s last backpack- we found the factory, but there was an exclusivity agreement for window cleaning companies (fair enough) …

There will be another version out there just as ideal, you can be sure !

The real issue is who is prepared to buy a container of them ? And that is where we need the likes of the Brits because backpacks make sense when you are cleaning terraces with 6-8 windows front and back !

I think to add a couple of points about the alternative tank :

Wash-iT DI TANK holds 1/4 cu ft resin

The entire head of the tank opens now - so you can easily fill and empty it with a 10" mouth.

There is zero functional performance difference between the systems …

The Wash-iT DI TANK is as little as $99

Using a non-proprietary tank, you can continue to buy 25 litre bags of DI RESIN - getting the benefit of bulk pricing.

Before next Spring, we will have 1/4 cu ft blocks of DI RESIN available for easy storage and refills.

We are really focused at getting this market in the ‘affordable’ range for entry-level start-ups - you can see some good combos at www.multi-pole.com

Here is a video of the DI TANK :

These fancy Chinese “chemical sprayers” have filled a void in the North American wfp market. They can also be used for larger projects or as ones exclusive water application system for wfp work.

By the way, you’d have to be the hulk to think these “backpacks” are used as backpacks.

Is Reach-it going to jump on the band wagon with a new design?

No - I don’t believe in them …

Other than that, I think the more focused we are over a long period of time, the more amazing our product can become.

Pole, clamp, tube brush, pole squeegee …

RO SYSTEM , DI TANK

I have some ideas for a pump controller …

That’s pretty much it, I think

Didnt you say a couple of messages earlier that you tried to source Gardiner’s back pack but couldn’t because of an exclusive deal? Why did you try since you don’t believe in them?
