Thanks for all the great input guys. I think after listening to the input I think for me I would do both. I would issue T-shirts and a vest. The vest would be for over anything you might wear over your t-shirt and I would have a color requirement for any top worn over the t-shirt and the vest would have to be worn over. The employee would also be responsible for wearing khakis (shorts or pants).

I think this gives employees options to dress how they feel comfortable but still be uniform and still display the company logo. I also feel this would be a lot cheaper than issuing sweatshirt and jackets along with t-shirts.

If I did only commercial I would definitely use the vest in place of t-shirts. I think it would be cheaper in the long run and as for being hot in the summer, your going to be hot anyways. A lightweight mesh vest isn’t going to increase that. That’s just my take.
