Uniforms

I have the upper part of the body pretty much taken care of. Where I am looking to get some insight is in pants/shorts.

For years I’ve had employees wear blue jeans. As an employee I never liked having to purchase my own work clothes which I beat up. As an employer I don’t like how the definition of fitting blue jeans is interperted by some employees.

I would like to go to kakis (I can’t spell and don’t care to look words up, thanks for understanding), but my concern is keeping them clean once the days starts.

I live in WA ST so we work in the occasional drizzle and mud. Thoughts on pants beyond blue jeans?

Thanks

While I am here I can’t stand the weatherpeople. I mean really they say 30% chance of rain…well that means there is a 70% chance it won’t rain. Lets be positive here folks.

We wear cargo shorts or pants. Tan in color. NO BLUE JEANS!!

Dickie’s polyester work pants and shorts. Cheap, long-lasting, bleach resistant, stain resistant. What more could you ask for?

There is a built-in spell check here. Right-click on words with that cute squiggly line under them.

I highly recogmend Paramount pants by North Face. They are water repellent and the legs zip off to make shorts. Lots of deep pockets and they come with lifetime warranty

Awesome pants! The ones I had a couple yrs ago worked great but last yr I got some and when I took the legs off the shorts seemed to be too short. I like long shorts (past the knee). Do you know anything about a style with longer shorts?

All my guys wear khaki cargo pants or shorts. No jeans ever. No jean shorts ever. Do they still make those? Anyway. They stay cleaner than you would think, and they have the extra pockets for stowing stuff around. I tried the dickies style mechanics wear. They hated them, and honestly Whenever I had to work withthe guys I refused to wear them because they I hated them too. So I went back to the cargos and everyone is happy. I go to old navy and get them around $15.00 a pair and give the guys 5 pairs of shorts and pants. Their choice which to wear.

Just curious, how come you guys dont like blue jeans? Am I missing something? My primary color is blue, with our dark blue shirts, the levi’s look pretty good and they are comfortable- plus everyone has a pair or 2 so I dont have to buy them.

What was to hate?

Same here. I found some at Target on sale for $11.00 and bought 10 of them. Some places try and charge as much as $25 a par.

What this guy can do is buy his employees pants and take it from their paycheck. When they leave the company if the pants are in good shape, take them for the next person and give the money back to the employee. It forces them to keep the clothes in good shape. If the employee last a full year I would just give them back the money and let them keep the pants. I would only do this because of the potential of a high turn over. I worked at a car dealer when I was younger and they made us pay for our shirts this way. It forced me to not wear the shirt out at night etc because I wanted my $50 back for it. Only wore it at work…

We use blue jeans in the cooler temps and blue jean cargo shorts in the summer. I can see no cut offs but a clean and neat pair of jeans work well in our area.

That’s called the ‘Incentive’ program
