Use a Little Reverse Psychology On Your Prospects

You know all about the “reverse psychology” idea, no doubt. The wikipedia definition seems to describe it well.Reverse psychology is a persuasion technique involving the advocacy of a belief or behavior that is opposite to the one desired, with the expectation that this approach will encourage the subject of the persuasion to do what is desired: […]

Another great idea Kevin, thanks!

Pleasure, Tony

I was surprised myself, even though I shouldn’t have been, right?

We are a peculiar bunch, us human folk.

Yeah, treacherous heart and all!

Even desperate!

Desperation will show thru your reverse psychology

Not with my poker fa:Dce

so u deal w/ clients in the trailer park?

or you can say something, I would actually recommend super duper extra extreeme deluxe pacage for only $200 more, but you probably dont have the money right now…

I like that one!

"Your neighbors down the street invested in the Ultra Awesome Clean, but they drive a Ferrari, too, and hardly have to work. Man, they are loaded!

You probably want just the Poor Man’s clean, right?"

I use reverse psychology in my every day life, don’t think about it, it just comes … but be VERY careful, it may bite you back. And that highlighted sentence is borderline insulting if you ask me. I’ll be offended if you’d say that to me.

I am sure Kevin was joking with that (hence the :))

You’ve been spying on me, haven’t you?

Its COMPLETELY insulting!

It was a joke. I would never say that to someone.

Have no fear

The real challenge with this method is knowing when it will work.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to say.

McDonalds uses the upsell to a combo to make me buy that darn hashbrown with my Egg McMuffin, and it works.

You use an up-sell or cross-sell technique to sell a higher priced version of your services, too, or a complimentary service.

Sadly, nothing works 100% of the time on 100% of the people.

So we must experiment.

This reverse psychology method seems to work well with people who appear to have access to disposable income, and are anxious to spend it, but on their terms.

If they are controlling in the conversation, I have tried playing this card and pandering to their desire to be the power behind the decisions.

So far, so good.

But I’m not batting 1000.
