I found with screen even that you have put pin ,latch ,clip etc.
That they do not always hold the screen in tight.
So I’m thinking that if you put a small piece Velcro on the screen frame and the window frame.
That would not only hold the screens in tight, but also easier to take out without bending and mucking around with clip, latches, pin etc.
Making it quicker the do the job next time around.
Any thoughts ?
Wouldn’t you have to remove the pins and springs from the frame to do this? I’m not sure customers would be too happy to have all their screens modified like that.
Perhaps you should try it on your own screens and see how it works out.
I see your point it may be that it can only used on where there is the little plastic clips, the ones that always break from old age and where you have latches on inside on the bottom of screens.
Also the screens for the wind out windows where the screen are on the inside.
I have fabricated screens where there are no channels to hold them in and used the velcro, It works great! Be sure to let your custmer to know you are using the velcro and make sure they are ok with it
I have used the velcro before on screens where the frame needs clips etc and they work great, make the customer knows why you are doing it
They used to do that here, pull down screens are more popular now, although become tatty & stuck after a while. The problem is with the glue on the velcro, after a while it always seems to pull it away from the surface.
As I said before that when you get those plastic clips that when old they just snap right off.
So if that happens and it’s possible to put Velcro on.
I’ve ask the home owner if it would be ok.
They are all happy enough to get it fix.
Velcro on metal or aluminium it seem to stick the best.
So maybe carry a roll Velcro in the tool box, for a quick repair job.
Wouldn’t do that. A strong gust of wind can send it on someone’s head.
I highly doubt it… Never know tho.
Velcro is always in my toolbox for screens, or for the decorative headrails on some blinds. When the plastic holders break for the blinds, it’s hard to find a replacement and most customer are very down with the velcro, lol.
My local 3 Day Blinds® store offers the plastic holders for free.
Nice! Good info. Just stroll in there and say " GIVE ME THE CLIPS!"?
You could mention my name, but I don’t think it would do you any good.
I just brought in a sample and stated that I need X number. The store rep told me they are always free (prolly could they break so easily.)
PSSSTT! come here, come here… Larry sent me… Said you guys give out free sh*t?
Thanks a bunch Larry. I’ll go down there this week.
You might have to knock on the door around back with that approach!
