To start, my DI tank and resin are in working condition, 0ppm TDS. Currently working on a house with quite old windows, French panes and storm windows. After WFP on the upper level windows, there are stains(?) On each pane. Upon scrubbing with a microfiber, nearly nothing came off. Using squeegee isnt quite an option as some windows are unaccessible with a ladder.Thoughts? Maybe not enough rinsing?
Soap and water, squeegee and bronze wool. There’s probably oxidation from the metal screens and you’ll just make a not clean mess using a WFP on a storm job.
WFP is a tool in the toolbox, not the be all end all for window cleaning.
Looks like glaze runoff to me. Older windows are held in by glaze, you could rinse for a week and may not ever be clear.
Glaze very well may have been it. WFP was useless. Ended up cleaning them by hand, a lot of scrubbing and some sketchy ladder work. Thanks for the replies
I’d suggest that you put in your job notes that this house had old glazing. If they call again, increase the price for the extra time to clean by hand, or suggest to them that they get the windows re-glazed and your price will remain the same.
Depending on how bad the glazing is, new glazing will also help insulate their home better, since there are probably gaps now where cold air is coming around the glass.
