I am thinking about buying the Werner 19ft Multi-Purpose ladder. It says that it converts to a 9ft step ladder. Does anyone have this ladder? Are you able to stand at 9ft or is this rating like most of the others, 9ft means you can only stand at 6ft etc.? Are you able to straddle the top of the ladder easily? I have a small car and a big job lined up and I think this is the only ladder that I can fit in my car that will be suitable for the high interior glass. Big picture windows at 10-12. Or I may just have to pole them with the Unger Indoor pad on a WFP. Then again I am not sure about the ladder inside as the house has hardwood floors.
Well I have one but don’t use it anymore I only use sectionals. But if u don’t have anything else they will work fine and depending on how brave u are, u can straddle or even stand on top of it (done it). Defiantly not as safe as a sectional. But sometimes u have to work with what u got. The only Werner multi purpose ladder I use is the little 13 one it’s about 3.5ft step to 6 ft step ladder. But don’t use it much since I have sectionals.

I’ve used them and I would recommend spending the $100 more and getting the Little Giant equivalent or a little taller.
Not only are the LG’s lighter the mechanisms for opening/closing and raising/lowering function a lot more smooth as the ladder ages.

I would go with the mt22 its heavy but sturdy as hell and some people like stack ladders but I still prefer my extension ladders but all ladders have there benefits in my experience i have 3 stacks to but prefer my werner 28 with the auto leg levelers

I’d get the 17’, it’s not too heavy and it’s probably the most versatile ladder you can buy. The 17 will get you to most 2nd story windows. I wouldn’t buy the 22, it’s very heavy and it is a pain to work with. I’m thinking of selling mine in exchange for another extension.
I break out the sectionals only when absolutely necessary.
But as for werner vs lg - the lg is better built and the hinges and locks are a lot smoother. Amazon has them on sale occasionally for a great price, but for the money, the werner is good. It’s almost half the price of the lg.
Overall, it’s a great ladder for the price. Then when you start to stack the dough, you can get some sectionals or extensions or whatever strikes your fancy.
I have the Werner 17’ adjustable and it is really heavy and also difficult to adjust. I am going to switch to the Little Giant because I really like the adjustable concept but the Werner is just too heavy and hard to handle.
I’ve got the Werner adjustable in the 13’, 17’ and 22’
Rarely use the 22 any more since I got a 24’ extension (and a WFP). But I use the 13 and 17 regularly. Very sturdy.

One thing I like about the little giants is when folding back from an extension position to an a-frame position, the little giant hinges will “catch” the ladder. The werner will collapse and smash your fingers if you’re not careful. When fully collapsed, the hinges will lock the ladder, the werner will try to flop open.
Also, when extending the lg, you can flip the locks in and it’ll find the hole and lock in place. The werner will catch on the rungs and you’ll have to pull the lock out to get it seated correctly.
I use the Werner 17’ all the time (almost every day) and I have never had a problem with it, especially considering the price. I have stood on top of it hundreds of times and it is sturdy as long as you have all 4 feet grounded. probably every 6 months I WD40 the hinges and plugs and it works like a charm for the past 6 years or so.
I have Werner’s 22’ version. It’s heavy but it does the job. I’m 200 lbs so I think it may not be as bad for me lugging it around. My wife won’t lug it though. She wants a 17’ little giant.
I would spring for the little giant as it’s lighter (higher quality aluminum) and better made (smoother functioning hardware). If you are strapped for cash and don’t mind lugging weight, the werner multi ladder will get the job done.
^^^ great pic

Like the other have those are pretty heavy ladders, if it is for just this job as you said just pole it if your good with a pole and unger indoor pad the interior.
hope this help bro!
PS…i dislike putting ladders on hardwood floors a lot, so if the home has them i like to go ladderless if at all possible.
Lg’s here, I have a 17,22,26
Hey Man this ladders super heavy
I went to a hardware store to check out the 22’ LG. Tried to pick it up like I would my 6’ step and almost snapped my shoulder off. I’ve been really happy with my 24’/27’ 3-section compact Werner extension ladder with levelers and a 4’ and 6’ step. The 24 fits on my Subaru Impreza with rack bars two feet apart. It’s 9’ long at it’s shortest, so I use it inside as well for high picture frame windows etc. The only thing I want now is 3.5 sectional stacks for corner sets and narrow sets.
does the werner have wheels like how the LG has them?
the LG22 may not seem too heavy when you first purchase it but after a few years you will start to feel every pound. The wheels on the LG are designed to roll the ladder width wise which only works if you have a big sidewalk or open space to walk through. most of the time we are going between gates and doors and places with narrow sidewalks that you cant roll the LG. I am in the process of re-placing the wheels in a different position to allow the ladder to be rolled as if carrying a surfboard.
will post pics when done
