I’ve found that there are other uses for WFPs.
Having a quick off on system at the end of the pole.
Would make it easier to change tools you need quickly.
So I put this on the end of the pole.
No need to screw on & off tools all the time.
I got it off a old painter pole seems to work OK.
My RHG Reach Around has been allowing me to use tools on my Gardiner pe for quite some time now.
In addition, I believe Gardiner’s new section 1 system allows the use of traditional tools with a quick-release system.
Have you seen Unger’s multi-tool attachmen for extension poles?
Yes I know ones you mean.
That is why I made one of these.
They go on the pole all right but if you put an attachment on tight it can be hard to get off.
As In my case I went to get it off to put another attachment on, had to sort of pull and twist it at the same time it snap off.
It is like anything it is only as strong as the weakest point.
So now there is a connector for each tool which are only 2 bucks each.
No mucking around save time.
Off or on in seconds without wrestling it off.
I have installed on my WFP a $3 Ettore tip that allows me to screw on gutter scoops, slide and lock scrapers/squeegees/scrubbers, and even my WFP brush heads - to get around the “European Tip” I just picked out a brush with a removable female adapter piece and screwed on a $3 Ettore brass handle flipped around and with the squeegee plate removed…stay away from the aluminum handles.
Garrett: What kind of WFP do you have that you would use for scooping debris from a gutter?
I use a dedicated Unger extension pole for gutter work, since it takes a beating and gets dirty.
.
I just tested the pole to see how it would go with a bit of pressure against it guess what!!
It broke as I said that must have been where the weak point was.
Maybe just as well because when I took it off to try something else.
I discovered that the plastic thread on the end of the pole had strip.
I am glad it did not happen while the pole was fully extended.
So I re done the pole used the same thread attachment this time
I put it on the pole.
The good thing using metal threaded attachment they will not break or stretch.
The thread is also a universal then you can put more tools on the pole on as well.
Where I pointed the pen is where the top of the pole is.
about a year ago i stumbled on a great pole tip.it is fitted to a cheap short ANZA decorators pole. by coincidence it fits perfecttly Wagtail and is also incredibly strong . i now have fitted ANZA tips to all my poles.
in the photo the one on the left stays in my pouch, to give me just that bit extra reach when i am up my ladder,i have drilled holes where my fingers grip to give better grip
Are they metal or plastic?
they are plastic. if you google " ANZA pole" you can read a bit of them. Some (but not all) Unger squeegees and scrapers fit on this tip exactly too. The tip is very light which is a bonus , i can vouch they are very strong as i have used them on a long pole every day for a year ,no problems.
only downside is you must buy a pole to get the tip with it , but the poles are cheap in price as Anza only make short poles
OK they are sort of maybe painters pole?
I put metal tip with the thread on it is a universal thread.
I think your tip has a universal thread also?
Very handy.
As you said it fits most tools.
yes, a painters pole . i use the threaded end to fix on a gate unlocking tool, to draw open gate bolts
I Was thinking the same thing.
Like I had said :), I picked up a DOMA HEIGHTS Carbon Fiber Pole. I’ve only used it a few times for those really inconvenient gutters.
Maybe other CF poles aren’t up to the challenge? How intense does gutter cleaning get? am I doing it wrong?
It doesn’t get too dirty at all, I am using a one foot gutter scoop on the tip and just pulling debris towards me as I stand stationary on the ladder or at the corner of a rooftop.
Pfarr…
Howdy, say sounds like you got your ducks in a row… a 24’ Garelick may be better because they only cost about 60 bucks and not as much as your CF pole which you should baby for WFP work, they being so exspensive !
The garelick is pretty tough !
Fellow PNW’erner / Dange
If the gutters are wet/muddy, things tend to transfer, at least for me…
At lengths great than about 12’, the pole tends to hit against the gutter. I’d rather not fight the gutter hangers at longer distances.
Yes a lot of things can be used for more then what they are meant for.
