WFP water readings

We just recently purchased a WFP system. This is all very new to our business. Been doing it the old fashioned way since 1982. I need to know when to change my filters. My current PPM reading from my pole is 3? is that good, average, great, I have no idea. HELP please

what system did you purchase?

Our main system in the IPC Hrydocart
We change the sediment filter and carbon filter when TDS reaches 8
If after changing the filters the reading does not go down between 0-2 we change the DI Filter.
If it does not go to 0 after then it close to time to changing the RO Membrane.

We like to keep our water at a TDS of 0 - 8
I have cleaned pure water in the past with a TDS as high as 45 before… and the windows came out looking great.

I have heard many going that high with good results. Makes me wonder about the whole change at TDS of 10 PPM. Does the industry wants to needlessly change it out to make more money?
Reminds me of the protein powder producers in the “fitness industry” telling everyone had to consume 2x your bodyweight or you lose your gym gains.

I used that Meter to check my area they have on https://shopwindowcleaner.com/decide and I have like 25.91 so I’m guessing that is what my area starts off at. Now is that high and would I used more resin faster cause the high start or is that low and Ill use less over time.

Looking at the Unger 1 or maybe 2 stage starter kits to get feet wet without going balls out

That’s nice and low. You can use just a 1/2 cube DI tank and not have to worry about changing the resin very often at all.

Nice to hear. I guess all my taxes I pay the city do give good water. LOL

@Perry_Tait has often said 0 ppm is not required, so what is safe ? it depends on the the colour of particles left in water. in one area a guy could be cleaning with 20 ppm no problem while in another area 20 ppm leaves spots (numbers pulled from my ash).
this summer my ro was in bad shape and i frequently saw my ppm climb quickly from near 0 to 20-30 ppm as the di died. the windows usually looked good but sometimes i found that near the bottom there were spots.
my new ro is bringing the water from 150-200 down too 2-4 so i currently am not using the di tank at all.
if you have a new ro/di or just di and everything is fresh you should get a zero reading (readings should be taken when system has been running awhile)

25.91 is ridiculously low… Go with a 1/2 cube DI tank.

Do we have a Average in readings. I know some newbies would like to see how we measure up to other areas.

Every area has different TDS readings. You need to check the area you work in for its tds reading.

I used that one and even tho it don’t have mine the one 2 blocks away was low 25.91 and the one next to that was 30.4
So my area looks good cause the city has great water.
