What brush do you recomend for Gutter Whitening?

I have a gutter whitening job next week and need to purchase a brush, what do you recomend?

Go by your local RV center and get a soft bristle truck brush. Get one that looks and feels like it will hold water.

Don’t get a brush with stiff spaced out bristles.

This diy one has an adjustable angle stick it on an adjustable angle and it goes round corners and up the back between the soffits, its called an Anzo.

Hey Chris, I know this post is 7 months old, but this link doesn’t work since you switched to your new shop. What brush is this? Could you post a new link?
Thanks!

I’m sure this is the one - mr long arm flow thru brush

Yep thats the one… thanks Tony

Thanks guys!

Using this brush…what chemical do you recommend?

We use this - <a href=“http://shopwindowcleaner.com/xterior-gutter-zap.html?&a_bid=a1a12fb7” target=“_top”><img src=“http://www.shopwindowcleaner.com/affiliate/accounts/default1/banners/xterior gutter zap.jpg” alt=“” title=“” /></a><img style=“border:0” src=“Shopwindowcleaner.com” width=“1” height=“1” alt=“” />

I have used Gutter Zap as well, but have had great results on less severe streaks with diluted Simple Green.

Pressure washing.

I used this on quite a few jobs last year with excellent results. Spray it on and where did the stains go? It works well. I found it at the local Home Depot. I used it in a hand spray bottle followed by a blast of water. Used a brush too to spread it out evenly.

Chris and Tony,

I noticed that you guys said the Mr. Long arm brush works well for gutter whitening. I’m assuming that the MarxOff is just an applicator and is not used to actually scrub the gutters is that correct? So, I’m assuming that you put the gutter zap on the marxoff applicator to apply it, then use the mr long arm brush to scrub the gutters separately? Then spray down with a hose?

I haven’t used the MarxOff yet. The brush does a good job but if you’re using the MarxOff i doubt you’d need to use a brush as well.

I’ve tried both in the last month. The marxoff works but is a little bit more of a headache. As Larry appreciates more thorough explanations I expand. No you don’t need to scrub after wards. I dipped it in the cleaning solution, applied it to the gutter and hosed it off. In bad areas I had to go over it twice. I had “issues” getting it to clean the under side of the upper lip, which usually lead to an extra pass using the tip on the 1/2 inch section.

mr long arm brush is what we are going with. I like that it will work with any shape/size gutter and gets a full application of whatever cleaning agent you are using on it.

Gutter zap worked well, but has yet to remove the oxidized black streaks. I have gutter gernade sitting in my garage just waiting to get tested. I hope it really removes ALL the black streaks, but I am not holding out hope. I learned my lesson when my father purchased the unkinkable hose which kinked as we took it out of its package.

The brush alone will get the job done. The marxoff is a waste IMO.
