What do you charge for an average residential Window?

Waterfed we get $125 to $200 man hour.

i usually refer to $ per man hour in the annualized sense - annual gross revenue / total man hours including owner in field

Wow - here in Florida I struggle to get customers to pay more than $4-$5 per window side (double pane/single pane same price). Sliders are $5 per panel per side; tracks and screens are included unless they are pretty bad. But I hit some pretty big homes so it adds up and a few have gasped at the price until I explain the price structure and the amount of work that goes into brightening up their windows. Besides Fish and a couple retired guys under bid me in my best area. My regulars tell me I do the best work and will always use me. I also super detail leaded glass, sweep entry ways before I leave and clean cobwebs to the best of may ability to those loyal customers.

What a low-baller… We over here like to get $976-$986 per man hour…

yes raise ur prices!!!

here in kentuckiana I charge

5 bucks a window (dry brush tracks and screens)
6 bucks for 2nd story
7 bucks for 3rd story
8 bucks for skylights (because i can!)
5 bucks for storms
75 cents a pane
and for big windows I just make numbers up!

I charge $15 to $25 for skylights, depending on what mood I’m in (Because I can!!)

$6 for storms, and there are some we just refuse to do anymore.
$1.50 per pane for french

I think the rest of your pricing is somewhat low if it’s per window (2 panes). Although I like the making up numbers for big ones as long as it’s over $10.

Ok so i recently increased my prices from 3.50 to 6 and 2.50 to 5. After compairing prices on here and listening to the old timers i decided that it will be worth the transiton to increase my prices now and if they end up being too high for the market discount it untill i find the market equalibrium.

10 windows = 110 Inside and Out 20 windows equals 220 Inside and Out
10 windows I/O +Tracks =160 etc. 20 windows I/O + Tracks = 320

We shall see how it go’s, wish me luck =)

You’re charging too much for tracks, tbh

failed to mention that if there is over 200 i charge 20% and more and more because I’m the boss and i choose what i charge

Guess I’ll chime in. Here’s our pricing structure:
All prices for in & out with screen, sills, and exterior frames-
Plain double hung: $12
casements, per pane: $8 (we charge the same for small to medium fixed panes, as well as door panes)
Large picture windows: $15
skylights: $15-25
storms, per panel: $5 (so a triple track storm unit would add $10 to the price of that window)
French panes: base price for that style window, plus a surcharge of $0.25 per pane. For instance, a 6/6 would be $15 ($12 + $3); a 12/12 would be $18; a large picture window with 64 panes would be $31 ($15 + $16)
I found out recently that we are right on par with our most respected competitor in the area- everyone else is lowballing

Wow, big prices over there!!! When i have your prices here in Holland i can come with a ferrari to my work. But i think live is more expensive over there…

i wonder what a ferrari would look like withe a ladder rack…

I did a quote this morning and to test the waters of raising my prices $1 per window (regular window from $4 to $5 and sliders from $5 to $6) and the guy said wow, that’s high. 44 windows in/out with tracks, screens, frames, and sills (88 surfaces), $446.00. He was thinking $300.00. I told him I would come down to $375 but I couldn’t knock $146 off the price. AT $300 it would be $3.40 each side with screens, tracks, and sills. 2 story split level home. If he doesn’t call back oh well - just don’t get 100% of all bids. The windows were dirty, the frames were ignored, not to mention ladder work for about a third of them.

I am just amazed over and over across the nation the same responses of ā€œwow, that’s highā€

It would be great to have a WCR independent site that we could point to and say ā€œreally? we are right in line with national pricingā€ (in other words, you mr customer are off your rocker, not us)

have the independent site with tags of per window or something, they can see for themselves
what to expect to pay and why etc
a public service type thing

like that independent site out east about shopping for a window cleaner

just a stray thought, but look at all these threads, eveyone’s in the same equivalent range relative to their area

Yes, and there is nothing worse than being caught up on a job that you underbid… been there, done that.

Our response in europe maybe the same wow, or that’s high, but i think you can’t compare the prices with each other.
Is this the American dream!! haha

I also don’t charge per window but would guess its about $10 per window including screens

Well we always run the 20 window special anywhere from 199 - 249

After that we are asking for $22 a window but will negotiate lower if need be. I would guess our overall average price when you factor in the special would be $17
