You do have to place a value on your service too and be professional for your charges.
The above guy called me back yesterday asking if I would come down another $25. (I already dropped $71 just in hopes of landing him as a Quarterly.) I said I couldn’t come down any more because of what I put into servicing his windows, and that he will be very satisfied with my work. He did say I am more professional than the other guy and doesn’t really like him. There again is the value I place on what I do. And unless mortgage is over due or something I need a steady profit, and not just a pay for the day, as I am presenting my reputation as well as my superior service of hard work that I have to offer.
About service and professionalism for the price - The job yesterday - the guy said he was tired from working three back to back shifts in a row and just didn’t want to clean up the dog crap in the back yard if I could just watch where I step. I usually alert folks ahead of time to please clean up that on window day. I said sure then he went for a 35 minute run! I’m thinking like really? too tired to clean up some dog crap!? Whatever. All said and done and he paid me $14 more than I asked for. Not big money but anything above means I did something right. Even though he was being lazy about one thing I didn’t flinch and stayed professional. I could have just as easily said no way and left him with a negative feeling. Price justified.
Actually, I knew a service who provide their best service with reasonable prices.
$8 per window (Double hung) Additional .25 per square if it has grids.
$6 Picture or casement, $10-12 if its large
2nd Floor: Add $2 per window
3rd Floor: Add $4 per window
Construction Clean-up: I usually get between $15-20 per window.
Using these prices in South Florida I typically close about 90% of jobs if I quote on site and am ready to do the job then and there.
Talk about necro…
We have a lot of different glass options here (French pane, picture windows, a frames, etc) so pricing by pane worked best. Ultimately, we see how many we get done in an hour and charge from there. But… 2.5 is a super easy maintenance clean pane price (no screen clean7, and it goes up. Our highest so far was $16.5/pane.
