What do you think about this business card?

this is one that I want to use but want some more opinions other than my own.
too much wording? give it to me. I don’t care if you are mean or nice.

these are basically the services I offer and want to make it clear since I can’t do that with just my company name and one line description.
I don’t want people asking “so what do you do?”
also the company name is for now fictional. I like it but I’m not sure if it’s right. what do you guys think, does it work for what I offer etc?

If you have a website definitely include that on your card. If not, get one.
People really want to see that, it establishes legitimacy and helps them become comfortable with your company.

Also for an email address, consider going with [email protected] (Or whatever your domain name is)
Again, this looks alot more possessional than a generic email.

Also where it lists what you specialize in, consider making that list bullet points.

Hope this helps,
Doug

Hi,
This is usually what I’m good for. Grammar and spelling.
It’s horrible. Such as : sceens-should be screens
"repair broken…" You might want to capitalize new sentences unless that’s intentional.
How about "We repair small roof leaks and more!"
Also it may be more effective to say you specialize in one or maybe two services.

Others will chime in with more on the marketability side.

I would look into a two sided design, list your logo and your contact info on one side, and all your services on the second side.

Yeah im not sure about that post card…at all.

Sending out postcards is one thing, but making a coupon that ACTUALLY WORKS is another. Before you start sending postcards or using up all your printer ink think of an appealing offer. Why should they call you? What benefits come from having their windows cleaned? What kind of security does your potential customer have by going through your company? You DON’T want a coupon that just tells the public what you do for a living, you want a coupon that will give them a reason to pick up there phone and call you. Make sure you can convey all or as many of these qualities as possible.

Also, think about WHO your selling to. Male / female/ age group. And make your add appealing to THAT sort of person. Picking the right color, wording your add a certain way, having certain pictures rather than others, ALL of these factors and more come into play when deciding WHO your selling to.

Hope this helps.

haha! I didnt notice that was a business card and not a post card!

The generic email is definitely something to change, and it’s easy to do… go to GoDaddy.com and buy the domain you’d like, then go to Google Apps, Standard and you can setup a gmail account @yourdomain.com… actually, you can setup as many as you’d like. Google apps is free and the domain is only $7.50… search google for GoDaddy promo codes and you can always find one. PM me if you need any help setting it up.

Also, the wording in the second paragraph (although it looks like it’s supposed to be 1) is off, so make sure that it’s a proper sentence before you send to press. Same with capitalization, re-check because there are some inconsistencies. I’d consider shortening it, or going with a bulleted list in very small font. Where are you getting these printed? It’s $27 for 1000 full color two sided cards at gotprint; I’d go that route and move the services listing to the back.

On my next cards I’m including a scanlife logo, so the can scan it and it will call/ add the contact to their phone automatically.

Side note, I was thinking it would be cool to have similar barcode on trucks and shirts… imagine someone is following you and they want to call you but the also don’t to die trying to dial your number. All they have to do is scan the logo (although I’m sure the percentage of people who would know to do this is low)

Scan this to save my number to your iphone, android, blackberry, or other smartphone

Ditto what Doug and Steven said. Get a website, include an email address with YOUR domain name, not yahoo or hotmail or…, Make it 2 sided. Make your services bullet points (people love bullet points). Also, a PO box is alright, but consider getting a box at a UPS store, they give you a physical address. Sometimes people don’t trust doing business with someone that uses a PO box. Just my .02.

We talked about this on Kevin’s forum too…Personally, I don’t think they’d do much good on shirts and the van but on cards they make perfect sense. Even if few people actually use it, if you place it so it flows with the rest of the card it makes you look more current, modern, and high class.

sorry about the spelling stuff. this is only a rough draft lol.

webpage, looking into it. my brother is good with this stuff.
thanks for all the tips.

as for bullet points could you guys give me an example off my card?

about my po box, my town doesn’t deliver the mail. so any mail will not get sent to my house. i’ve had to chase down all kinds of things because the post master sent it back.
but I can put my physical address then the po box under it the post master told me.

the nearest ups store is about 14 miles from my house. and I can’t afford (for now) to get a shop.

Window Cleaning
Screen Cleaning
Gutter Cleaning
Awnings
Pressure Washing
Glass Repair
Screen Repair
Caulking
Roof Repair

I would split these up into 2 columns on the back of the card. Or just not include everything you do on the card. Or you could condense it:

Window, gutter, screen and awning cleaning
Roof, window and screen repair
Pressure washing
Caulking

yeah that’s what I thought you guys meant. I wanted to do that but was running low on space and it wouldn’t split it into columns.

btw, vista print is the place I was using. 500 cards for $10 1000 for 20 1500 for $25 and 2000 for $29

I personally like to see photographs on biz cards. A picture says a thousand words.

Just a question for you yamaharacer, would adding the roof repair, glass repair and chalking put you into a handyman type of position where you would need to get a license to offer those services? As well as effect the type of insurance that you would need starting out?

? for Doug, What is the process to getting the scan-life code and setting it up to a web site as well as cost?

“Free ninety nine”!

ScanLife | The worldwide leader in mobile barcode scanning apps

And you can set it to call you, text you, go to your website… and a few other things. really cool.

I use Next Day Flyers or Printrunner. Next Day Flyers is cheaper. It’s $17 for 1000 and that includes color frong and black and white on the back, or $19 for full color front and back. http://www.nextdayflyers.com/business-card-printing/standard-business-cards.php.

I’m gonna have to ask. not 100% sure on that. I hope not because it’s not something that is technically construction or remodeling.
maybe they would go by if you need a permit to do the work.
we’ll see. and if they do the I’ll just have to get it.

edit*
looks like ohio doesn’t require all businesses to get a license at all. (first paragraph)Ohio Department of Development | Entrepreneurship and Small Business | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

I can’t find any info about contractors etc at all…am I missing it??
Ohio Business Gateway | Licenses and Permits

edit again*
for glass work ohio doesn’t require any license. and I can’t find anything about roofing in the new business start up guide. so I guess roofing doesn’t need one?
strange…but they did say ohio doesn’t require all businesses to get a license.
for cleaning windows I have to get a service vendors liscense.

I can’t find anything about construction/remodeling or building repair etc.

Some states like az have a handy man license to do small jobs like roof repairs under a certain amount.Definatly use the back of the card to list the other things you do. What about ceiling fan cleaning, mirrors, We charge $5 per fan and mirror if its a bathroom mirror and the fan isnt 500 feet in the air. We call these add ons gas tank fillers, Average house we do has 5 fans and 2 or 3 bathroom mirrors that adds up to an additional $30 plus per job. The more you can cram on the back of the card so it looks clean the better. I find clients read the back of the cards and ask about them. We give each job we do a post card with an WE ALSO DO: . ask them to read it over and if they have any questions when we do the instides we can talk about it. Gives them time to read it over. If they dont want anything else fine but they may have a freind or neighbor who asks hey do you know abybody who does ? I just got $200 worth of rescreens today from 2 jobs, took about 50 minutes total for both jobs

You can’t specialize in everything…Although I do all those as well, i specialize in home window cleaning. that is what I emphasize
