Don’t bid low just to get your foot in the door. It is one of the worst habits to ever get into.
1200 bucks is a ridiculously low price for that building.
It will probably not clean up very easily. The windows looked terrible.
You said their not expecting a miracle for their near ruined glass, but what happens when they ask you to get back up and fix a mistake when it took you 2-3 days to complete for $1200 bucks?! Go back for nothing when you already got chump change for it?
You and your guys should not be working for $15 bucks an hour.
Yeah, you’re not going to get any primo information through an anonymous posting on an industry board.
That’s why I’m committed to networking events, especially mine. That’s how I got to know personally guys who I trust and who trust me for information. If I know you personally- we have spent time together and I know you and trust you- you get the keys to the kingdom.
You have no idea of the information that gets passed around under the radar.
Why would you want to pay to do that job man? That does not make sense to me. You WILL be outta pocket on it and stuck doing it. If you don’t complete it your rep will follow you, high rise is a small playing field. Reputation is EVERYTHING. Why would you start a company in high rise and not know how to bid??
Look man, I applaud you for making your bones at such an early age, and I’m with you on that phone call you got. I wouldv’e told em to pound sand and stop smoking crack.
Have you even done any high rise? You can see the staining from your photo bro, that glass is gonna be a nightmare to clean.
When I’m looking for work- commercial or residential- I look for clean properties. I want the ones who are already paying to keep it looking good, not the cheap a$$es who don’t mind the grunge.
Hell I don’t do anything higher than 3 stories my self with commercial but I know I would be somewhere around $5k - $7k for that regardless of whether I got the job or not.
Would you rather us all tell you that you are right about everything and laugh at you when you failed?
If you want validation for the decisions you already made this isn’t the place but if you want valuable advice from contractors who can walk the walk then stick around, toughen up, and learn.
Hi-Rise…Just gathering info from you to make a educated point…Your 21 right? So am I to assume
that you have been trained to do high-rise work ? If you have been for how long ?
Personally I don’t see ant stains on the glass from the picture you posted…The entry way look like it goes inward after the first level at least 3 times…so hanging from the roof and you reach that 3rd level of inset thing are going to get very technical right .
So …What process will you use (apparatus) ? Do they have roof tie backs so you can just go over the edge. Will you use a roof rolling device ? Will you use an I-beam ! Do you have all the necessary equipment ?
After counting the drops and time spent cleaning the glass I personally think the job should take a hi-end Journeymen at least, minimum, 24 hours and that’s only if I was wrong about the insets at the entry !
Ideally this job should not go any lower than 2400…Minimum anywhere ! All cities are pretty much the same. Now you coming in low is your own judgement call, but what I remember from some of your first post, you are jut starting out there in Miami, coming from some where else right ?
Now at 21 and doing this range (not Dange) of hi technical work your going to have to have seasoned experience ! Tell me 3 basic knots you will use ! What repelling device will you use ? If those windows at the entry are inset how would you go about cleaning them !
To give you my gist this would be a pretty good job for an experience hi-rise guy…Even though 8 floors is considered a mid-rise !
I really like the art you displayed, is the face of the central person how you are
feeling ? Don’t sweat it, things always play themselves out…Just keep a level head.
Sort of like a race car driver who just had a triple car wreak in front of him…Human reaction is to swerve to avoid debris flying all about, but by doing so you might swerve right into a tire or whatever else bouncing back in that direction and then you nail it trying to avoid it !
Instead train your mine to think straight, safe and secure, so when the accident happens you blast straight through it without trying to swerve and avoid things !
Don’t sweat the competition either, they’re just trying to intimidate you and get you to swerve and maybe go over the edge ! Blow right through their BS and head for the finish line !
So Miami…When are you going to respond to my questions, so I can understand what it is your doing ! Give me some insight to how you operate and what experience you have. I need a clear vision of your operation, so I can help with your needs.
Again I like the picture, but don’t let that be your walk !

I’m really gonna get my ass kicked for this, look at these people pressure washing in Downtown Miami. The guy on the right is not even wearing a real harness harness, just a waist belt.
Say it’s good you didn’t jump ship here, I’m glad your going to stick with us here…You know there are a bunch of good guys and gals here who hold a bunch of info for you, and walking away because of some misunderstandings only could limit you on gaining that information !
Heck your 21 and raren to go and some times misinterpretation sets a stumbling block in our way, just keep heading straight down that race-way and you’ll acquire all that you’ll need to fly over the finish line ! Think Safe …
I would charge roughly around $5000 2 dollars per pane 1st and 2nd floor. $3 per pane 3rd $4per pane 4th and $5 per pane every floor higher. Its not about lowballing when you first start its about being professional and showing the customer you know what your doing. and if you dont then i suggest going out and doing some houses for free til you get the hang of it and can be some what knowledgeable in the situation. You should never step on competitors toes lowballing it just make a bad name for you you want other window cleaners to respect you. In my town we all stick together to help out eachother if one of us is too busy we give work to the other its all about getting every customers windows done that needs it.
