What is your stepstool of choice?

with all respect the step ladders we use in Germany are much better . the Hymer 6024for example is extremely light , sturdy and very stable… the main advantage is it has steps on both sides. they are anything from 2 to 10 steps

i visited a ladder shop not long ago and other makes available there had step ladders with 2 up to around 16 steps
These ladders are of extremely high quality and if you respect them will last you your entire life … these ladders have several advantages for a window cleaner . one being is the extra base width enables much better stability to lets say one with a narrower base. this makes life really easy when working at a height of lets say 7 Feet or any particular height…

having steps on both sides enable you to climb higher and also work a wider cleaning area and also two men can work simultaneously … its easier on your spine spreading your feet on two separate steps than just one … its simply easier…

So anyone interested in selling these ladders could make some money in The USA because they offer much more advantages not just for Window cleaners but all workers who use step ladders !!

I have tried the Step ladders withe the steps on just one side… the left right sides step ladder is far far superior and a really a must a for any professional Window cleaner…

This 3 step ladder pictured isa fantastic ladder also from the Firm HYMER… its got rubber feet. its simply a class act and if you have a little patience and i would go for a 6240 ( the above ladder ) have it imported . it will be well worth the effort and time . !!!

Germans are legendary for their manufacturing quality.

However, if you had to use a stepladder, wouldn’t it be better to use a tripod one? On uneven ground a tripod is a much more stable shape than 4 points of contact. My friend, an electrician, says their whole shop only uses tripod ladders for safety reasons.

Jesse i only am confronted with uneven ground maybe once a year and one situation !! no way i would 100 % go for the Hymer because its simply better… if i have uneven ground i find a solution in seconds…they also make telescopic ladders similar to what you are showing but with the telescopic legs on both sides and steps on both sides …The HYmer is simply fantastic and i will say it again . its worth having one if your on a step ladder every day…

what people dont undertand is they would rather save money and buy an all rounder… but i would rather have 2 ,3 4 , and five different step ladders in my garage and pull out the required ladder or ladders for what ever job i have on that day…depending on what size vehicle you use you could even have all 3 with you or tied to the roof etc …

By having steps on both sides this gives a window cleaner especially ( also a painter and dec… ) great advantages … having steps just one side decrease your ability to save time and energy … … a 2 step ladder enables you to get in close to lets say a toilet window ( inside ) that has narrow space left and right… using the one above you would have to place it in front on the toilet then stretch to the window… but a double sides step ladder enables you to place it to the left and right of the toilet seat which enables you to get in close to your object… and face it with your body aiming forwards . the single sided step is more awkward and you have twist your spine more for a lot of windows plus your footing is not good . plus the single step windows start to wobble after a certain height…sorry have to go into detail a bit . i have to explain the advantages of a two sided step ladder. because there is more than one advantage …

I agree completely with the advantages of a two sided step ladder. I use my werner multi-ladders this wa a lot.
However, I had never thought about the advantages of a tripod ladder and uneven ground/landscaping, etc. I run into that sort of thing a lot.

Hmmm …

Does anybody know if OSHA allows the use of tripod ladders for window cleaners? I know in California they do not allow two people on the same ladder even if is a Little Giant type.

Google xtend and climb ladder. Its telescopic. Probably not for everyone but i love it, have 2 of em aready. So compact and handy for any height. Just watch your fingers when u close it

Heres is a step ladder that is used in doors.</SPAN>

As you can see that it is a aluminium 4 foot step ladder.</SPAN>

And with the hand rail over the top gives you something to grab on to if you over balance. </SPAN>

Also light to carry and compact to move in tight spots.</SPAN>

They also come in 5- 6- 7 foot models all with the hand rail on them.</SPAN>

I agree, two sided step ladders are useful. I used to use a little giant combination ladder which was two sided in stepladder mode. Seeing as you’re using it on even ground, it looks to be an excellent choice. I rarely use any type of stepstool or stepladder inside. I usually use a short pole and a zero degree squeegee. If I have a really high interior window i.e. vaulted ceiling, I will use an extension ladder - and then I wish I had a set of sectional ladders.

Those look pretty cool, Mike.

i use a basic 2 step plastic step stool im kinda tall and that thing cost me less then 20 bucks why would u go spend 300 crazy to me i would rather put that money towards more important supplies. thats jus me i like to conserve
