Hey. For my rezi’s I wish to use a scraper as LITTLE as possible.
What is the most abrasive scrubber/washer have you found?
I have been hearing about bronze wool.
What is the cutting action like?
Will bronewool pad remove that nasty dirty film from unfleshed windows?
(ooops I mean UNCLEANED stupid spelchec)
Thanks
I use bronze wool for dry touch up because of cost, steel wool for wet scrubing and toss at the end of the day because of rust concerns. I use the green nylex brush for exterior cleaning.
If you have a specialty woodworking store, like Woodcraft, in your area, you can pick up some white nylon pads that give the same abrasive rating as 0000 steel wool. Plus you can use wet or dry and it doesn’t rust. A whole box is hand-sized sheets is under $11.
I use the 3M #9488 pad with a dash of SORBO Hard Water Stain powder on everything I don’t want to blade, excellent results in my opinion, gets pretty much everything off just a little more elbow grease than a blade.

A find a wet scrim will beat steel wool & a white pad.
Would you talk a bit about it Karl? How so?
Dale
The weave of the fabric seems to pick up any debris. I’ve tried with steel/bronze wool & white pad. For me 2 fingers in a scrim (just soak a corner, then finish off with a dry part) will beat anything except a scraper for speed. May help those who are frightened of scraping tempered.
Thanks Karl, I’ll give it a go.

Thanks Karl, I kind of knew that but never really applied it as much as I should. Funny how a little reminder can jump start your mental workings.
That seems time consuming. Why not just use the pad?
